    Description

We are a small household at present… you would be sharing the land with my partner Martin, my mother Cazee (Bambi) and her cat, Apple and myself, Alicia. Oh and the beautiful chickies, birds, butterflies and all the other rainforest creatures!

The project is a small permaculture inspired hobby farm set on 5 acres amongst lush tropical rainforest habitat on Sacred Madjandji Country, located 30 minutes south of Gimuy (Cairns) in the beautiful region of Far North Queensland, Australia.

As we’re both working casual jobs, this is a slow side project, though there is much room and opportunity to learn, share and exchange skills here on the land.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Gimuy (Cairns) our closest city ~ is a culturally rich and vibrant region that offers a unique blend of Indigenous heritage, natural wonders, and diverse community traditions. Located on the traditional lands of the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji people, the area is a significant cultural hub where ancient Indigenous customs, stories, and practices are still very much alive and celebrated. Winter through Spring is when the North comes alive, the sun shines and theres lots of things on and events to see and do.

This project will offer an opportunity to experience living closer and in relationship with the land through connecting with our natural surroundings, growing food inspired by permaculture and syntropic / agroforestry principles, folk herbalism, building projects and more...a space to truly connect and learn from one another. For we are forever the student.

    Help

At present our main focus is to build an outdoor shower next to our already built compost toilet. As well as renovating ( building a bed /kitchen) another caravan which is my mothers and also in the garden. Eventually we'd love to create an outdoor kitchen space though, help throughout the garden is also very much needed. People with carpentry, landscaping, gardening / permaculture ~ all skills welcome! This space is also open to all who are wanting to learn and eventually integrate these skills in future.
