Hello there, we are a family of - Mom, Dad, daughter age 6, and I also have two daughters attending university in Bangkok who visit from time to time. Our home is in Phu Plai Fah village, just 16 kilometers from the city center of Chiang Rai. We are near White Temple in a quiet and peaceful area of Chiang Rai surrounded by rice fields and mountains. There is also a Buddhist retreat nearby and you can go and see it and talk to the Monks if you are interested. You can be a part of a traditional Thai family and learn Thai language and culture through spending time with us at our home. We need guests to share their knowledge of conversational English with our daughter, who is already quite proficient, and with Mom and Dad. We want to attract guests with a mindset of cultural exchange through language, gardening, cooking, story telling/sharing, photos / videos, karaoke, music, singing, etc... We can also go on some travels to experience the natural beauty of the Thai countryside around Chiang Rai.
Our resort is very near the border of Laos and it is a very nice view point at a well known place called Phu Chi Fah. At the resort we grow an assortment of fruits and vegetables using only organic farming methods. We grow strawberries, Japanese potatoes, pomegranates, limes, herbs, and native edible plants - and host one of the most spectacular exhibits of marigold flowers on the mountain... the marigolds bloom in December. We also have another small organic farm on a hillside near the resort where we grow cocoa, coffee, bananas, flower tea, and herbs. During "high season" ( October through February) we offer rooms for rent to vacationers, which include meals - and - taking guests to the summit of Phu Chi Fa mountain for the sunrise and to experience the "sea of clouds", as we call it. This time of year is very busy at the resort so any knowledge of food prep, cooking, dish-washing, cleaning, coffee making, etc... and just overall helping with anything that needs help is very much desired in out guests.
Now we have English learning Center in Phuchifa that start to teach Enlush in the Evening ,Saturday and Sunday for my daugther and children from the aria around here. We would like to have volunteers to jion our activities.

We have a resort and organic learning center in Phu Chi Fah and there are also Thai hill-tribe people nearby such as Mong and Akha. We teach our culture with language exchange, cooking, story telling, farming, travelling and singing.
Our daughter Tonkhaw likes watching many different videos on youtube to help her learn English such as singing nursery rhymes, learning about colors, the alphabet, body parts, puzzles, and many more things... so you can sit with her and join in the fun. There are also just day to day activities and little needs that come up - just like in any family... and we encourage you to feel more like a family member than a guest and help if you can. In our family, we are kind and respectful of all people and cultures and expect the same of our guests.
In Chiang Rai you will have a room to yourself and use of a bathroom with a hot shower. We have wifi and use a bicycle if you would like. We also have a motorbike which is 22 years old.
While the accommodations in In Phu Chi Fa are more rustic, you will have either a tent, with a sleeping mattress and with shared hot showers and toilets - or - you will stay in an A-frame cottage including a bathroom with hot shower.
We can only accommodate one volunteer at a time so couples and families need not message us, although we do wish you a great time in Thailand.
There are many many places to see in Chaing Rai, sometimes we will all go out as a family to see these places or during you stay here you will have a day off a week to yourself to go and do your own thing.. you could rent a taxi for the day to take you around (1500 baht) or if you can drive, rent a scooter (150-200 baht but dosent include gas).
There is an amazing Elephant Sanctuary nearby and there are many beautiful waterfalls and a hot-spring to see, also many temples including the famous White Temple and of course you can go to the city center to see the shops and markets. there is a great walking weekend night market full of food and things to buy which shouldn't be missed!
