    Description

My name is Taksin and I own an elephant sanctuary with my wife, Nuh, close to the historical city of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. As a tourist guide, I show interested guests our work with the elephants, the wilderness of the jungle and teach them about our culture. Both of us are from the indigenous Karen Hill Tribe and are more than happy to give you insights into our traditions (of course you can also learn about Thai culture while staying with us too ;)). We both speak English and love to meet people from around the world. We are looking for 1-2 people (only pairs who know each other already) to help us with the elephant sanctuary - join the tours and help the guide on-site, help with social media content creation and website updates, and someone who could help teach my seven year old son some English.

We are looking for volunteers‼️‼️‼️ MINIMUM STAY 1-2 MONTHS OR LONG TERM STAYS or LOOKING FOR LONG TERM WORK* in Chiang Mai. The ideal guests will have experience with marketing and social media, website design skills and competency with Wordpress, and are very good and photography and videography editing. We are also in the process of beginning to explore the creation of a charity to help solve inequality and sustainability issues for Karen Hill Tribe people so anyone with backgrounds in work for foundations or film to help highlight these issues to support the cause will be welcomed with open arms.

In return we offer you free accommodation in private rooms with free wifi and safety box, free water, coffee and tea as well as discounts on tours for other attractions in and around Chiang Mai and the rest of Thailand. We can help you with motorbike rentals, speaking Thai or our Karen language, and getting used to the local culture. We also have a native english speaker friend who will help with organising your arrival can help you with finding your feet once you're here.

*We are unable to support any VISA applications as we do not qualify as a business which foreigners can work for.

Our house is centrally located just 2 minutes walk from the old city of Chiang Mai, just off the famous Saturday walking street. In your free time you can explore the city, go hiking, take a refreshing shower in some waterfalls close to the city or just sit back and relax in our communal area or in one of the many cosy cafes and coffee shops close by. You can reach everything on foot but if needed we can help you out with our motorbike. We are very social and often have dinner with our staff and volunteers...you will be able to try Karen jungle food as well ;)
