Description
Hi, we are Hugo, Nora, Sigita and our honcho Didzis (our cat). Two years ago, we moved from the capital of Latvia to the countryside with a dream of creating a beautiful place in nature.
Our place is in Gaujas National Park, which is the biggest national park in Latvia. The land borders a forest. Around a 10 minute walk away through the forest, are two lakes where we have a boat. Pike fishing is possible.
We have 2 hectares of land, and we like to grow organic food for ourselves and loved ones. We started with a hemp field, but now we grow different kinds of veggies- mainly cucumbers, garlic, chili and tomatoes.
The land is off the grid, but the local store is within walking distance. In 10 minute drive away is one of the oldest and most historic cities in Latvia- Cesis.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You can enjoy your own time and take in everything nature brings. Occasionally, deer pass by, and birds can always be heard. During the week, we are mostly there in the evenings. But on weekends, the energy and laughter are always there. Whether it is a party or a BBQ evening, we are always doing something. If not, we are enjoying long Latvian summer days at different events or activities where you can join us.
We are willing to share and learn different ideas, skills and mindsets. I am an engineer and learning crafts and DIY in practice at the land. My girlfriend cooks amazing meals with our vegetables and herbs. My mother has a good eye in gardening and landscaping. We are very open minded and friendly :)
Help
As the land and place are slowly developing, we appreciate different kinds of help and personal touches to make the place magical.
This year, the main focus are:
* Finishing the outdoor kitchen and shower;
* In the garden this year is the garlic and cucumber year;
* DIY from pallets and other sustainable materials.
Alongside these, we also have many other ideas and things you can take part in with us. Also your ideas are welcome.

Accommodation
We are providing new place to stay in a living container. We have 2 living containers built this year. In one we are living ourselves; other one is for you. It is equipped with bed, desk, shelves, windows and wifi.
We have dry toilet and outside shower.
We are cooking dinner everyday and in weekends also lunch. In other days we will make sure you have good meals or ingredients to cook. We will also introduce to Latvian meals and a lot of ingredients come from our organic garden.
What else ...
Around us, there are many natural and must-see places in Latvia. We are in Gauja National Park, the biggest national park in Latvia, full of different trees, animals and plants. Going through the forest 10 minutes, there are two lakes where you can walk around and swim. I also have a boat there, so you can watch the sunset from the middle of the lake or go pike fishing.
A 10-minute drive away is Cesis, which is a must-see city in Latvia. From Cesis, you can reach Sigulda in 1 hour, Riga in 2 hours, Valmiera in 30 minutes and many other cities by train or bus.
The bus stop is within walking distance, so you can easily go to other places and cities. I also have a car, so I can take you to places as well.
