    Description

    Hello!
I started on this site as a Workawayer on a farm in Portugal. Today, I finally took the plunge and I want to become a host for my long-term life project!

My name is Emma, his name is Ben, we are French. We have two little boys named Loup, born in July 2022 and Armel, born in June 2025. We are settled in a farmhouse in the countryside, very close to Questembert, in Morbihan in South Brittany. We are lucky to live on more than 3 hectares of meadow and woods, surrounded by fields and a few houses with very nice neighbours.. All amenities are 4km away, in Questembert (supermarket, small shops, swimming pool, cinema, performance hall, etc.). This proximity allows you to get around by bike (which we can lend of course).

Our project is to eco-renovate the living area, create a permaculture vegetable garden, raise a few animals, install beehives to try to achieve the most self-sufficient lifestyle possible. It's a life project that started in 2021, and here we are for several years of big, medium and small projects! We're starting with the work part, eco-renovation, orchard, vegetable garden and greenhouse.

The work has progressed well in the house. We have a bathroom, amenities, 4 bedrooms, a living room, a dining room and a large kitchen for cooking. We finished the upper floor of the house in spring 2024. There are still some finishing touches to be done in the laundry room, the cellar and the living room.

We therefore invite anyone who loves nature and enjoys sharing friendly moments to come and spend time with us. We have both travelled a lot and lived abroad (Fiji, USA, England, Ecuador, Thailand, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Gabon, Tanzania): open-mindedness, tolerance and cultural exchanges are part of our values!

    - 1 week stay minimum
    - Meals: 3 meals a day, we usually all cook together. Snacks and special diets (vegan products, gluten-free, etc.) at your expense.
    - Toiletries not provided, please bring your own
    - Bring work clothes for indoor and outdoor work
    - Possibility of staying either in the house, in a bedroom, or in a caravan, in the agricultural shed
    - The work can sometimes be physical, but we adapt, there is so much to do!
    - Self-service bikes but to some are to be restored, tractor driving lessons :-)
    - If you have special skills, you are welcome!

    Bonjour!

    Help

    Current projects:
    - Finish the last small tasks in the house (lime joints, insulation in the laundry room and cellar: we can obviously teach you if you are a novice, and this type of job is generally done together...)
    - Collect wood, fell some dead trees
    - Maintenance of the chicken coop
    - Ben is building a playground for kids, you can help him if you are interested (cabin, slide...), it's almost finished but there are still some small jobs to do
    - Building stone walls
    - Sorting and tidying diverse stuff in the barn
    - Maintaining the permaculture vegetable garden and the greenhouse (depending on the season: weeding, sowing, mulching, working the soil, planting, etc.)
    - Maintaining the orchard
    - End of 2025, we welcomed a young mare, named Pia (cheval de trait Breton). Emma trains her sometimes on weekends. If you like horses, you can learn about them! If you know about horse education, it's good news because we are still novice. The paddock is done, but we still need to build the shelter.

    Other:
    - Planting vegetable plants
    - Various DIY projects
    - Cooking, jars, baking, herbal teas
    - Harvesting fruit (strawberries, raspberries, apples, plums, peaches, chestnuts)
    - Possibly babysitting
    --

    Projets actuels:

    Autres:
    - Plantation de plantes potagères, fleurs
    - Bricolages divers
    - Cuisine, bocaux, pâtisserie, tisanes
    - Récolte des fruits (fraises, framboises, pommes, prunes, pêches, châtaignes)
    - Eventuellement garde d'enfant

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Ben currently works full time, so ideally volunteers should be able to be autonomous. Also, they should be available on weekends to help us: days off are best taken during the week. For my part, I work part-time, so I'm often home, but sometimes busy with the kids, who are still young and need attention :)

There are several things to see around the farm: Branféré animal and botanical park 10 minutes away, Billiers beach 25 minutes away, Vannes 20 minutes away, Rochefort-en-Terre 10 minutes away, Rennes 45 minutes away, Lorient and Nantes 1 hour away. Questembert is the “land of chestnuts” in Breton, and we have tons of them! It is also an equestrian town which offers many activities in the surrounding area (racecourse, equestrian centers, hiking trails, etc.).
