Description
We are a charity caring for rescue cats/kittens and dogs/puppies, we re-home our animals in UK, Holland and Spain. We are based in Los Gallardos, Spain, not far from Mojacar, which has beautiful beaches, perfect place to relax when you have free time. Come and join our Shelter, we are a friendly hard working charity and require enthusiastic volunteers to come and help our animals, most of our animals are abandoned scared and ill, they soon develop their own character. As a volunteer you will be giving training on how to look after the animals, interact with them, in return receive lots of cuddles.
Accommodation is available at the Shelter, we often have between 6 to 8 volunteers at any time, we recommend coming for minimum of one month, longer if possible.
Mojacar is divided in to 2 places, Mojacar Playa - beach area, plenty of shops and restaurants, tourist hot spot, especially during summer months, and then there is Mojacar Pueblo, the old town, high up on the hill, fantastic views of the area, again tourist shops and a few restaurants. Mojacar is about a 15 minute drive from the Shelter, Turre is nearest small town which does have a few shops and a supermarket.Types of help and learning opportunities
Charity WorkAnimal CareGeneral MaintenanceCultural exchange and learning opportunities
We have volunteers from Holland, Spain, Germany and the UK, so it's an ideal opportunity to learn a new language. There are many places of interest to visit, with numerous beaches and Mojácar Pueblo within 15 minutes of the shelter.
Help
Part of the volunteers role is of course cleaning out kennels, feeding the animals, grooming them, taking them for walks. You will also be given the opportunity to work with dogs, puppies, cats and kittens.

We have 2 mobile homes, 1 caravan and 2 small bedsits, fully equipped. Volunteers will have cooking facilities and there are plenty of places in Turre and Mojacar to eat out try the odd tapas. We do not provide food, but cooking essentials are provided in all accommodation.
What else ...
Mojacar Pueblo is very interesting to visit, of course you have the beautiful beaches in Mojacar. Unfortunately, we do not have a regular bus service, but we do have a van the volunteers can use, providing they have a clean driving licence. There are also a couple of bicycles to use.
