-----------------
We are developing a small homestead in the rural province of Somogy in the countryside in South of Hungary and have spent the last 4 years growing a permaculture garden which is now abundant with life and produce, it’s a lovely place to learn and spend time in to see how nature looks after it own.
Our mission eventually is to live more sustainable, feed from the garden & surrounding forests and find economic ways to support our small family and home, this takes time and is not always easy with legislations but we are getting there slowly and organically where possible.
We are a small family but have a group of lovely people who visit us each year to help and learn often swapping skills and experience. We are not Hungarian but immerse ourselves into the culture and lifestyle.
We have a bunch of naughty cuddly animals including 6 goats, 25+ chickens, cats and dogs.
-----------------
CURRENT WORK WE ARE DOING
We are working on various projects at any one time and always some hours in the garden each week.
The process of renovating an old winehouse in which to turn into holiday accommodation is in motion, we will use old building techniques and methods to keep in line with the original traditional style and have started work on the garden Nov 19.
Another is our vintage shop, we have 100’s of rustic, primitive and vintage items which we send worldwide so work on this a few days a week often visiting flea markets and vintage sellers in the countryside. If you like photography, restoring, or blogging then this might be of interest to you.
------------------
OUR PROPERTY – we live on a 2-acre property which we are developing using permaculture, agro forestry and other really awesome methods, the gardens are full of vegetables, and fruit and nut trees.
Our garden backs on to the Zscelic Park (Stary Sky Park) which is the 2nd darkest place in Europe so if you like sitting under the dark skies watching the milky way around the bonfire then our place is for you. You can walk out the garden and step into the forest, its magic.
We have two houses, a family home and a house we currently use for homesteading and volunteers so you can have your own space. We also have a cool camper van and massive tents and hammocks if you would rather be outside. We have lots of space so welcome couples and families.
------------------
OUR OFFER TO YOU
Can you give us 4 hours a day (mon-fri)?
We can give you a nice warm place to sleep and a wholesome meal each day. We also provide fresh herbs from the garden for tea and medicinal uses.
You have 24hr access to clean kitchens and bathrooms and extra food stuff for additional meals and a great internet connection.

KAPOSVAR
Weekends are time off for you to go and explore this amazing country. (Look up Kaposvar for events as it’s our closest city as it hosts more festivals than any other city in Hungary)
There are lots of thermal baths, lakes and other interesting places to go so boredom does not exist around here.

The Project is situated in the beautiful rural Provence of Somogy in a little traditional agricultural village called Kaposhomok.
We are only 12kms from the beautiful city of Kaposvar which is twinned with Bath in the UK and around 50kms from the Lake Balaton Shores.
Public transport links to the village are frequent by bus and train.
In Kaposvar there are excellent facilities, a daily farmers market, train station to connect with the Balaton or Budapest, 2 kms of pedestrianised streets for the excellent festivals that take place and a relaxing thermal water park.
We are surrounded by forests, lakes and other glorious sites to keep you busy if you like walking and discovering. There are also lots of different bird colonies here including the golden oriole and hoopoe, it really is magical. Most of the trees surrounding the property are edible.
The majority of the villagers are semi self sufficient and grow food and raise animals for this purpose.
There are 2 large bee farms in the village, sheep and horse farms where you can ride into the forests.
There is a wine hill at the back of the village with over 40 wine houses spotted over the beautiful countryside, so time on a vine yard may be of interest which can be arranged.
We love to cook and create; we often have camp fires, art parties and arrange other interesting events to keep us entertained. Should you have any creative flair then come and unleash it!A little more information
