    ** CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR**

Folks with experience in one of these three areas, in your message, please tell us a bit about your experience in these areas. If you don't have any, please let us know.

    - Carpentry and woodworking (e.g., building wooden structures and using woodworking tools.
    - Gardening and farming
    - Animal care, specifically dogs, cats, and chickens.

    **

Hello! We are Lindsey and Sarah, two Canadian queer ladies living on our half acre on Gabriola Island. I (Lindsey) work from home remotely, and Sarah is a flower and vegetable farmer, gardener, landscaper, and animal lover! I've travelled the world as a workawayer, and am finally switching to be a host. We love Gabriola Island, it's a beautiful small town off of Vancouver Island and we're so excited to bring in new folks!

Right now, we're looking for workawayers to come help us finish our cob house! We also have lots of tasks in our gardens and around the yard. Workaways will have their own converted bus, with a kitchen and bedroom.

Our property is right next to the beach (see photos), so you will be a 5 minute walk from one of the best sunrise spots you've ever seen!

We have two dogs, four cats, chickens, and ducks!

We get a lot of messages, so it would be great if you could help us out a bit by answering these questions in your initial message to us :)
    - Do you have a car?
    - What dates would you want to come, and if the vibes are good, do you have flexibility on how long you can stay?
    - Have you done workaway before? If so, what kind of work did you do?
    - What are your red and green flags for a host/workaway experience?
    - What are three words your friends would use to describe you?
    - Would you consider yourself a dog person, or a cat person?

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Sarah and I live in a converted school bus, and you'll be living in our second converted bus. The bus can sleep 2-3 people, but sometimes we have other workaways sleeping in their camper vans who also share the kitchen. We usually have between 2 and 4 workaways staying with us.

We have electricity and running water, but we rely on a water filter for drinking water. We use an outhouse to go to the bathroom and have a small shower room you would share with us (you have to go outside to get there). Basically, we like people to be comfortable with a camping setup and especially want people who enjoy being outside and in nature.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Gabriola Island is full of dense forests of evergreen trees, towering sandstone bluffs, abundant wildlife, and an iconic West Coast shoreline are home to an awesome community of artists, makers, creators and innovators. Having a car is a plus, but we do have public transportation and hitchhiking is very common. We can also drive you to the ferry if you'd like to go into Vancouver or Nanaimo.
