    Description

Bonjour! I am a creative professional with a background in architecture and photography, currently spending the summer getting my traditional village house in the beautiful Occitanie region ship-shape.

The main project is a fantastic, rustic grenier (loft) space with exposed stone walls, old timber beams, and a great open connection to a sunny terrace. I am looking for an extra pair of hands to help me clear, deep clean, brush down the old stonework, and do some light painting/home staging to bring out the room's full charm.

The local area is a quiet, authentic French village—perfect if you love slow mornings, local markets, cycling, and taking in the historic atmosphere. In exchange for a few hours of light work a day, I’m happy to offer a comfortable place to stay, home-cooked meals, cold drinks on the terrace, and plenty of good conversation.

Staying here, you'll get a true taste of slow-paced life in an authentic southern French village. I love sharing good food, local wine, and great conversation on the terrace after a productive morning.
Im well travelled and have a background in architecture, design, and professional photography, I’m happy to swap stories, talk about visual arts, or share insights into design, france, travel whatever really..
You'll have plenty of independent time to embed yourself in the local community, whether that means wandering down to the local bakery, visiting regional morning markets, or cycling through the vineyards. It’s a very relaxed, mutually respectful environment where we can learn from each other's backgrounds while getting this beautiful old space looking great!.

  • Help

    Help

The help I need is mostly centered around clearing, and cleaning an old loft/summer kitchen space to get it looking good.

Here is a general idea of what we will be doing:
Clearing & Organizing: Helping me sort through loose items, box up clutter, and organize the countertops so the space feels open and tidy.

Cleaning: Brushing down the old exposed stone walls to clear away dust, wiping down surfaces, and cleaning the floors.

Light Painting: Applying a simple coat of white lime-wash or masonry paint to a few small, flat plastered wall sections to brighten up the room.

Creative Staging: Helping me arrange a few plants, hanging some rustic copper pots, and setting up the space to look characterful and welcoming.

We will be helping on these tasks together as a team for about 4 to 5 hours a day, mostly in the cooler morning hours so we can relax and enjoy the terrace or explore the local area when the afternoon heat kicks in. No specialized construction or heavy DIY skills are required just a positive attitude and a good eye for detail!

    Accommodation

I offer a comfortable stay in a traditional village home with plenty of character. Depending on whether you are traveling alone or as a duo/couple, I have two separate spare bedrooms available:
Bedroom 1: A spacious room featuring high ceilings, traditional tiled floors, a character fireplace, and a sturdy metal bunk bed setup (featuring a double bed on the bottom and a single bed on top
Bedroom 2: A long, cozy, and private single room featuring a basic single bed and a large window that lets in plenty of natural light,
Both rooms have access to a shared bathroom and the main living areas of the house.

    How Food Works:
I am happy to provide ingredients for a self-service breakfast (coffee, tea, bread, etc.) to get your day started. For main meals, we will share home-cooked lunches or dinners together after our morning projects, usually enjoyed out on the sunny terrace. If you have any specific dietary requirements, just let me know in advance so I can make sure the kitchen is well-stocked!

    Transport & Getting Around:
We are located in a quiet, traditional village. Public transport options directly from the village can be limited, so having your own vehicle (car, motorbike, or bicycle) is a massive plus if you want to explore the wider region during your time off. However, if you don't have transport, there are lovely walks, local spots, and vineyards right on our doorstep, and I'm happy to help coordinate rides to the nearest larger transit hubs when possible.

What to do on your time off:
The surrounding region is famous for its history, landscapes, and wine. It's a fantastic area for hiking, cycling, ( I have some bikes) photography, and exploring historic architecture or local markets.
    House Rules & Expectations:
This is a relaxed, independent, and creative home. I ask that volunteers are clean, tidy, and respectful of shared living spaces. Because we are working with an older property (and doing some light painting/stonework cleaning), please bring sensible clothes and comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty!

    Internet / Connectivity:
If you need to stay connected for personal projects, message family, or do light remote work during your downtime, the house is equipped with good, reliable Wi-Fi.
