    Description

We are Jorge and Andi, and we live in Totolapan, a small town in Morelos, on the border with Mexico City. We currently participate in work groups and also enjoy visiting friends, hiking in the mountains, or swimming when it's very hot. We live in a large house on the outskirts of town, a 5-minute walk from the center, and we also have a plot of land located just outside the municipality (a 10-minute drive from the house) where we grow corn and plant trees. Our work varies depending on the season; we don't do construction during the rainy season, and we don't usually plant during the dry season, among other things. Currently, our main project is building a house and a swimming pool, all using natural and regional materials. We plant corn in early June and harvest it in October. In the middle of this month, the whole town celebrates the harvest, and "elotizas" (private parties where family and friends are invited to eat corn prepared in different ways) are organized. We have a small apiary at home, from which we extract honey and pollen, and we use the beeswax to make candles, which we later sell. During the season, we reclaim hives that come to people's homes. We are in the process of expanding the apiary and we have bees on friends' land. On the larger property (1.6 hectares), there is a nopal cactus plantation, and we are building a hedge with different types of trees. At the house, we have a garden with fruit trees, cacti, and various aromatic, decorative, and edible plants. We are also starting to make soaps and cosmetics with natural products, and we enjoy making fermented drinks like kombucha, sauerkraut, tepache, and mead. We are interested in activities such as yoga, soccer, music, hiking, crafts, and town festivals, which we enjoy. They regularly invite people (for traditional dances, weddings, quinceañeras, 15th birthday celebrations, etc.)...
