Description
We are a local initiative, that promotes conservation through practical education in our farm and forest. We are located in the Nature Reserve Cerro Apante in Matagalpa, we develop environmental education as an alternative way to promote participation of children, adolescents and adults; access to information, critical attitude and active engagement in the protection of the environment and the sustainable development of our community.
We have two groups that we are training as environmental leaders and they are getting skills in: English as ESL, organic agriculture, beekeeping, conservation, tour guiding, leadership, alternative construction, art and building a better self-steem for themselves. You can be part of their education too.
We educate a group of children through games and using the outdoors to educate them.
We aim to be the first environmental education centre of our municipality; and awaken interest in the conservation and scientific research of the forest through citizen science; as well as to establish as a place where to have hands-on experiences of contact with nature.
We have a land of 8.5 hectares, where we have built trails for environmental interpretation, we built a small playground with recycled materials; a dining area and resting spaces with hammocks for our visitors.Types of help and learning opportunities
