    Description

We live in beautiful Woodford, Victoria a tiny village like community. We are 6 minutes from a major town, Warrnambool. We are positioned just at the tail end of the Great Ocean Road, 20 min from Port Fairy, 1 hour from Portland. We are surrounded by beautiful coast line with the Great South West walk about an hour away. We live in a large historic building that has been a labour of love for 13 years. We are a couple with a teenage son. We are needing some help in the garden and with an old bus we plan to restore for living space. This would be ideal for someone who has building skills and garden knowledge. You could have a bedroom/bathroom indoors or pull up a van/caravan to our shed that has toilet, water, TV, heat, carpet and is furnished for your own privacy. We also have a hot outdoor shower.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a welcoming family with 1 teenager at home and adult children with partners who visit often. We spend time sitting outside by the fire pit, fishing, kayaking, football on weekends, camping, visiting family, DIY jobs, gardening, cooking. We eat healthy and have 2 amazing Labradors. You must love dogs! Hubbie is a jack of all trades and I love music… We would all would love to learn guitar at some stage. We would be excitied for our family to learn from others from faraway places.

Building skills would be essential to help on the Fit-out of an old Bedford Bus that would be turned into more living space for guests. Garden knowledge, in particular vegetable gardening. Basic garden tidy up tasks may be a part of this gig too. If you’re nifty with a paint brush there’s always painting to do. We both work but would love to collaborate and help with you when we can. Looking forward to learning about your life and sharing that with our 14 year old son who is a mad fisherman.

    Accommodation

You could choose to stay inside our house in a lovely bedroom, with a queen bed, own bathroom/toilet and lounge room or you could pull up your caravan/van to our shed that is fully furnished, carpeted, heated with running water, fridge, toilet. There is also a hot shower. This would be a more private space for you. Food will be simple but nutritious. On work days we use the slow cooker a lot to prepare hearty meals. On our days off we may share roasts/pasta/Rissoto or in finer weather BBQ or a curry on the open fire.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Time off could be spent along the Great Ocean Road, walks around Port Fairy, Great South West Walk near Portland, surfing, art classes, cooking, music groups. The options are endless and exciting. House rules- I guess just clean up after yourself, put the rubbish out occasionally, love our dogs, don’t party late at night. Simple things…
