Description
We have a very special cortijo near Castell de Ferro, where we run boarding kennels for dogs and cats, renovate the property, are developing permaculture principles in a vineyard, and hopefully in an edible forest, veg and herb garden.
We have 6 ha of land and are cultivating about 1 ha as a vineyard.
Help would be appreciated with the renovation project, so building experience would come in very handy. The vista from the cortijo's terrace is spectacular.
The nearest town is Castell de Ferro (15 min. drive), with bars and supermarkets and unspoiled beaches, a destination for many holiday makers from Granada and Madrid.
We are secluded but not isolated. English, Spanish and German spoken, and the sharing of knowledge, experience and stories thrown in. Last but not least, we love to make music!Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
We live in a very old (1300 years) cortijo with a lot of history and the renovation project can be challenging. Someone with hands-on renovation and building experience would be very welcome.
The land is being converted into a permaculture site and help with making swales (ditches on contour lines), starting a synergistic vegetable garden and aromatic herb garden is needed.
Also, footpaths and stone stairs for easy access to the productive farming areas will be made. Another important project is a firebreak around the house.Languages spoken

What else ...
Local sights include Granada and the Alhambra, Nerja, Cabo de Gata nature park, Alpujarras, Sierra Nevada, all accessible by bus from Castell de Ferro. You can actually ski down a slope in the Sierra Nevada in the morning and take a bath at the beach in the afternoon.
Beaches are excellent and unspoiled. The area is also famous for mountain biking and hiking. Eagles and many other birds, wild boar and mountain goats are abundant.A little more information
