Description
We are so many things, where to start? We are a small community of folks on a farm about two hours outside of Medellin. We have some Americans here, Colombians, Venezuelans, and a family from the Arhuaco tribe of the Sierra Nevada. Our farm is home to our small bean to bar organic chocolate factory. We are also sometimes a retreat center, the next retreat is in December.
We have recently purchased this land, and are finishing our second year of building. We have finished some housing, the road, the bridge and the chocolate factory. We are about to start on some bamboo cabins, next is our ceremonial medicine temple. We build mostly with guadua. We have 130 hectares or 314 acres, we have lush forests, a beautiful river and waterfall, cacao and coffee trees, monkeys, anteaters, a fishing lake full of fish. Beyond wildlife we have chickens, geese, swans, ducks, cats, dogs.
We are right now specifically looking for the following:
* Social media people....we need someone to come teach us about creating content and help us build our social media. We are terrible at this.
*People with some construction experience who is interested in construction with bamboo. We have a couple projects going. Super helpful for this person to speak english and spanish. Alex in charge of our construction team that only speaks spanish. Excellent opportunity to learn about construction in bamboo, and also the opportunity to be a part of creating this sacred space.
* People interested in permaculture, landscaping, reforestry. We have planted thousands of trees, but much more to go! Would love someone to come set up organic fertilizer systems and such.
The americans that live here, we travel a lot for work, so we may or may not be here. You should be comfortable speaking spanish, and also being on your own.
We offer housing in our deluxe bodega suites. They are not super fancy, but there is a shared kitchen and bath. Currently, no meals are offered, though we have some things in our gardens. We have reliable starlink internet. There are two available rooms, each with a double bed, so it is suitable for couples or singles.
We've had some great volunteers in the past, and are so grateful for this exchange.
We do not accept volunteers for short stays, we are not a hotel.Types of help and learning opportunities

This is a beautiful sanctuary that is sacred for us, our life project. This is not the place to go to if you are only looking to save money on accommodations for a week. We are a small community, and are happy to share our life with serious folks. This is not a party place, best for independent folks who like to spend time in nature.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
