    Description

We are looking to host some volunteers in April and May!

This is not a hostel, a hobby farm, or a pit stop. It is a 120-hectare living project in the mountains of Antioquia: a ceremonial cacao farm, a bean-to-bar chocolate factory, a nature reserve, and a retreat center opening its doors to guests this July. We are in the thick of building it.

We are a small intentional community made up of Americans, Colombians, Venezuelans, and a family from the Arhuaco tribe of the Sierra Nevada. We have lush native forest, a river, a waterfall, cacao and coffee groves, monkeys, anteaters, swans on a natural lake, and a blue and gold macaw named Mr. T. We build primarily in guadua bamboo.

We are looking for skilled people who want to be genuinely useful. Not observers, not tourists passing through. If you have something real to contribute and want to be part of building something meaningful at origin, read on.

    Right now we specifically need:

Content Creator and Social Media. We produce some of the most visually stunning and spiritually rich material imaginable: cacao ceremonies, waterfall hikes, bamboo construction, a working chocolate factory, wildlife, and sunsets over the Andes. We need someone who can capture it, shape a narrative, and help us grow our presence on Instagram and beyond. This is a rare opportunity to document something real from the ground up.

Bamboo Construction Help. We have active building projects underway led by our on-site team. Even basic construction experience is useful, and bilingual English and Spanish is a major plus since our crew works in Spanish. You will learn guadua techniques that are genuinely rare and beautiful.

Permaculture and Regenerative Agriculture. We have planted thousands of trees across more than 10 hectares and have much more to establish. We are looking for someone who can help set up composting systems, organic fertilization, and food forest design.

English Teacher. Our community includes people at different levels who are seriously motivated to improve. This is meaningful one-on-one or small group work, not classroom management.

Business and Organizational Skills. We are managing a multi-channel cacao business, retreats, farm operations, and a construction program simultaneously. If you have a background in operations, project coordination, or business development and want to apply it in an unconventional setting, we would love to talk.

    What we offer:
A private room in our main retreat house, which has five bedrooms and four baths. Reliable Starlink internet. Access to the land, the river, the waterfall, and everything on it. Participation in cacao ceremonies and the retreat experience. A front-row seat to something being built with real intention. The Arhuaco community, the forest, the animals, and the silence.

No meals are provided. There are things growing in the gardens and a kitchen available, but plan to feed yourself. San Roque is 20 minutes away with good markets, great coffee, and restaurants.

    Who this is not for:
If you are looking for a week of cheap accommodation between cities, this is not the place. We do not respond to inquiries under three weeks, and we genuinely prefer a month or more. We do not drink or smoke and prefer you do not either. This is not a rule so much as a reflection of what we are building here.

    Cultural Exchange:
This land is sacred to us. It is our life project and we treat it that way. The right volunteer leaves having contributed something real and having received something real in return: skills, perspective, and time in a place that most people never find. We have had wonderful people come through over the years and we are grateful for every one of them.

The americans that live here, we travel a lot for work, so we may or may not be here. You should be comfortable speaking spanish, and also being on your own.

    We have reliable starlink internet.

We've had some great volunteers in the past, and are so grateful for this exchange.

This is a beautiful sanctuary that is sacred for us, our life project. This is not the place to go to if you are only looking to save money on accommodations for a week. We are a small community, and are happy to share our life with serious folks. This is not a party place, best for independent folks who like to spend time in nature. We are not drinkers or pot smokers and prefer that you are not.
