I am a bit late in leaving this review but I just got home from 3 1/2 months of traveling. :)

My stay with Sean was awesome. It was my first Workaway experience and so I was nervous and didn't know what to expect. Especially as a young woman traveling alone, I wasn't sure about how things could go. Sean was SO gracious and accommodating,… read more especially when it took me 12 days to recover from brutal jet lag! I felt totally comfortable and safe with him. I stayed one month with Sean through December, and although the weather wasn't the greatest most the time, he made me feel so welcome in his beautiful home. His house is like something out of a fairytale! Seriously, it's magical, and the talk of the town. Everyone knows Sean and his home :)

I was going through some hard things that month in my own personal life and Sean had so much grace for me and gave me a lot of space to just be. He is an excellent host in a plethora of ways - taking me to see Glenveagh where he works as their senior expert gardener and botanist, showing me the little villages around the area, taking me to a pantomime play which he acted in, including me in a very special winter solstice ceremony, teaching me how to forage for certain plants and herbs and how to use them holistically, cooking EXCELLENT meals (I honestly don't know if I've ever eaten better in my life, Sean could be a chef), showing me good food places in the area, introducing me to all his friends (who are just as awesome, btw) teaching me the history and stories of the land and mountains.. I could go on and on. For a host, Sean is as good as it gets. I kept thinking and told several people, "I totally scored for my first Workaway experience!" :)

I would consider Sean an expert in many things, including botany, herbalism, mythical legend and lore, history, cooking, and just life experience in general. He is an excellent conversationalist, never boring and we had many hearty laughs. We endured the most savage thunder and lightning storm I have EVER been in and that was wild! He was a great companion through the somewhat dreary month of December and made it the best experience it could be for me. I will forever think back fondly on the memories I made there in Falcarragh, on the edge of the world, and I am truly grateful to have met Sean and spent the time I did with him. He is seriously really cool and really fun. I could not recommend him highly enough!
