    Description

join us for the busy summer season of 2026

    Hello!

We’re a French-English family living in a peaceful village in the heart of the Dordogne countryside in south-west France. We run a small, family-owned restaurant with guest rooms from our home, and are looking for an experienced, energetic, reliable, and motivated person

We are looking for someone with an excellent level of both English and French, who enjoys hospitality, working with people, and being part of a small hands-on team. The role would involve helping with the day-to-day running of the restaurant and guest accommodation, welcoming guests, service, and general support during our busiest months.

Our restaurant is intimate, relaxed, and focused on quality, warmth, and creating a memorable experience for guests. We are looking for somebody positive, adaptable, hard-working, and independent, who enjoys rural life and doesn’t mind busy summer evenings.

Life here is calm, rural, and surrounded by nature — perfect if you enjoy the outdoors, walking, countryside life, and slower living. As we are in a very rural area, having your own transport would be a big advantage so you can explore the region and enjoy your free time independently.

Life here is beautiful, calm, and rural — surrounded by forests, rivers, walking trails, pretty villages, and nature. This would suit someone who genuinely enjoys the outdoors, slower living, and countryside life. Having your own transport is strongly recommended so you can explore the area and enjoy your time off independently.

In exchange, you’ll experience authentic French country living, improve your language skills, discover one of the most beautiful regions of France, and become part of our family for the summer.

If you think you could be a good fit, we’d love to hear from you!

    Gemma, Raphaël & 7-year-old Louis

We are looking for somebody who is genuinely committed, professional, and enthusiastic about hospitality and customer experience.

    You should:

    - be fully available for the season (June, July & August, with the possibility of extending until the end of September)
    - have previous hospitality experience, ideally in quality or high-standard establishments
    - have an excellent level of French (and ideally English)
    - be self-motivated, enthusiastic, honest, reliable, and cheerful
    - be physically fit and comfortable working in a fast-paced and demanding environment
    - be highly organised and capable of multitasking efficiently
    - have excellent attention to detail
    - have a genuine interest in food, wine, and hospitality
    - possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
    - enjoy creating memorable experiences for guests
    - be a strong team player and happy to help wherever needed
    - maintain a professional and well-presented appearance
    - be emotionally resilient and able to work well under pressure during busy service periods

    Your responsibilities would include:

    - preparing and setting up the restaurant before service
    - greeting and seating guests
    - learning the menu thoroughly, including ingredients and preparation methods, and confidently describing dishes to guests
    - making wine and drink recommendations
    - preparing drinks and delivering food and beverages efficiently
    - attending tables and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout service
    - processing payments
    - assisting with closing duties
    - light cleaning of restaurant areas
    - assisting with housekeeping duties, including bedroom preparation and room changeovers
    - following food hygiene, sanitary, and safety standards
    - assisting with other ad-hoc duties as required

The position is for approximately 35 hours per week.

The restaurant is primarily open in the evenings (with only one lunchtime service per week), meaning you will usually have most daytime hours free to enjoy the area.

    Private accommodation is provided.

As we are in a rural location, having your own car is highly recommended for your independence and to explore the surrounding villages and countryside. The village itself has a grocery store, pharmacy, doctor, dentist, post office, and hairdresser.

Salary / compensation to be discussed.
