    Description

*availability from May 2024 to August 2024 (3 months) ..... Perfect if we can find someone who can stay the full 3 months :-)*

Hi there, we are a family of 3 (Rose 31, Owen 36 and Ailsa 2) living on a farm just outside the village of Clogher, which is in county Tyrone in Northern Ireland. The farm was originally Owens grandparents, we are slowly restoring the land with an interest in regenerative agriculture. There are quite a few acres of land, we have planted a few thousand trees in the last year, there are also sheep and goats at the moment and one dog who lives in the house and one who lives outside.

Owen is currently working during the week as a manager of a heritage centre, he is blacksmith by trade, and knows a few other crafts. At the moment I'm at home on the farm mostly with Ailsa, and in the evenings I'm working as a cleaner in the local area. The long term plan is for us to both work from home on the farm. In the mean time we are doing what we can inbetween work. That's where work away volunteers have been so very helpful to us in the past 6 months as it's enabled me to both get a break, and have some company. I'm really enjoying the process of hosting people, I'm learning lots about what we can give and share, and absolutely love learning from others cultures , especially those are the opposite to ours :-)

I love all things to do with home steading and DIY living. I've lived in a few different places in the UK, and have had an interest community living for some time. I have many passions, at the moment it's cycling, hiking, crocheting, natural building, painting, growing food....

    Help

We are looking for child care support and general help around the home and garden.

    This role would suit someone:

-is happy with a rustic living situation, our house is comfortable but it's an old farm house which comes with all it's quirks. I can elaborate if needs be.

-genuinely loves kids and is comfortable with the chaos that sometimes occurs with a young child.

-is interested in raising children with love, gentleness and clear boundaries. Likes to be affectionate with children (our little one is very tactile)

-loves to help with cleaning/cooking and the running of an efficient house, can use initiative and read between the lines what needs to be done

-enjoys working on creative projects (we are really creative family and love to share and learn different arts and crafts)

-wants to learn more about living with the land, regenerative agriculture, sustainable living....we are very much learning as we go along....

-can follow the childs lead mostly but knows how to provide dynamic and creative activities when necessary

-enjoys being home based during the week with the odd adventure here and there.

-enjoys working together and comfortable with working alone :-)

    What else ...

We live rurally, it is an hours walk into the nearest village, Clogher, I don't drive so I walk this quite regularly. In Clogher there are plenty of buses in either direction to Enniskillen or Belfast. Owen drives to work in Moira which is beside a train station should you wish to travel. The nearest airport is Belfast.
