    Description

Our place is situated on the beautiful East coast of Tasmania on 70 acres, about an hour and a half from Hobart and a km off the main highway. We are an easy going and relaxed couple (59yrs) from Western Australia, who are in the initial stages of setting up a self sufficient and sustainable lifestyle here on this beautiful property.

We have wildlife around us such as wallabies, possums, echidnas, quolls, devils and wombats. The bird life is also abundant with an amazing population of black swans out on the estuary. There are sea eagles, parrots and cockatoos, kookaburras, noisy miners, wrens, wattle birds and native hens, just to name a few. There's a beaut outlook across the estuary with about 750m frontage. There is a creek bordering one of our boundaries, which gives us good access to the estuary for fishing and kayaking adventures to experience.

We want to build a small off grid cabin to start with, that can take in the wonderful views. There's existing power to a shed that we use for part time accommodation and the water supply is limited, with only one large and one smaller rainwater tank.

Visitors who would like to improve their English language skills can learn from us. We both love to travel so we'd love to talk and exchange stories about places we've traveled to and countries we have worked in and to hear about others experiences.

    Help

We would like to have folk from all walks of life, come and stay with us to help with various chores and projects and to just chill out and enjoy. Some of these chores and projects include firewood collection (those handy with a chainsaw would be good), fallen timber clean-up to burn piles, developing an organic garden with building a green-house, grey water system, wicking beds, composting and landscaping etc. Building gabion structures such as fences, walls, seating and bbq areas.

Also, we would like to create a walking trail around the property, so some track creation, design and construction needed. To be used for a mountain bike trail as well. Clearing areas around the property, from straggly growth and dead wood, that are ideal spots for picnics or camping, or just to sit and enjoy the peacefulness and the views out across the estuary.

We're very much interested in the tiny house movement and would like to construct one. We would very much love it if someone has building skills to helps us with our building projects that would be ongoing. Keen to build with Hempcrete if anyone has had any experience with these builds, would be more than welcome.

    What else ...

We have a couple of good sea kayaks to go out and explore the estuary. Also, we have some fishing gear to be used to go out and catch a variety of fish. We are only a short distance to the Maria Island ferry and a great place to go and visit for a day or two. Freycinet National Park is only about an hour away with lots to explore over there as well. There is a local bus that commutes into Hobart from the nearby town of Triabunna.
