Nine years ago my wife and I left the hustle and bustle of city life and moved to Lake Atitlan. Here we fell in love with the magnificient views of the lake, mountains and erupting volcanos. But more so the people and their culture.
We brought our love for travelling, yoga, music,, theather and people and combined our passions into establishing what is now one of the premier hostel\bar\restaurant in Guatemala.
Here we work to support the local community through many grassroot projects, helping raise money for hospitals, shelters, education and much more.
We are sure you will fall in love with our little piece of paradise as we did.

We offer links with several local foundations and schools. At times we take on too many volunteers in order to directly impact and aid these organizations. We encourage our volunteers to forge relationships with our lovely Mayan staff.....who are always interested in teaching words and phrases in there Mayan dialect....Katchikel.
San Marcos as a tourist town is known for longer stay travelers who engage with the many learning opportunities offered. Yoga, meditation, healing therapies, Mayan chocolate ceremonies, kirtan, fermentation classes, permaculture, traditional textiles, Kambo frog venom workshops, and many other number of random interesting things that pop in and out of this quirky town. We hope you take part in whatever draws your interest!
Minimum 8 week commitment.
We are currently full until February.
We are also always interested in meeting social media experts, interior designers, carpenters and mural artists for shorter term work exchanges.
Also looking for more long term service industry lead and reception leads.
Must have customer service/hostel/reception experience in fast paced environment. Speaking both Spanish and English is a huge plus!!
Although we are a hostel, we consider the heart of our space to be the cafe, restaurant and healing center.. We are the place to be in San Marcos and host daily yoga classes, offer a Health Peak with massages, reflexology and different treatments. Throughout the day we have musicians perform and even additional services like tarot reading classes.
At night we host karaoke, live music, salsa, poker, movies and more!
We always have a minimum of 8 volunteers to support the hostel. Potential volunteers would focus their time at our reception. Tasks for the hostel end include check-ins/checkouts, showing guests the property and coordinating cleaning with housekeeping, etc.
During high season, drum circle nights and weekends we are very busy with both guests staying at the hostel and locals. You should expect during this time a very fast paced environment with lots of personalities and energy. Its always a fun time here!
On occasion, we have projects such as painting, arts and crafts, cleaning our lake front and even volunteering at local NGOs.
Mostly, we ask that you enjoy yourself and bring a fun, lively and positive energy with you as you interact and engage with our staff, other volunteers, locals and guests.
