    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are Italian and Mexican, so you will get a chance to get in touch with two different cultures at once.

🍝 We can share the recipes of typical dishes and we give you suggestions about the true gems of our region to visit or any tips you might need. You can learn about countryside life in Italy and Italian culture. Probably we won’t be able to spend time together every day, but at least once per week.
We’re happy to share our languages and cultures and we’d love to learn about yours as well. We’ll definitely ask about suggestions of places to visit in your country! 🌎

We’re interested in connecting with people from different cultures yet we are totally happy to host you also if you share one of ours (i.e. if you’re Mexican or Italian).

  • Help

    Help

We ask for practical help in and outside the house 🏡

Tasks will go from cleaning and gardening, to easy DIY projects and fixing little things around the house, maybe collecting fruits or vegetables from the fields or other projects that might come up during your stay, depending on the period. We can talk about it better once we get in touch✨

We might join you sometimes but you’ll be mainly doing tasks by yourselves. We accept more than one volunteer though, so you’ll be sharing the tasks with someone else 👥 it would be even better if you come in group!

We ask for 15 hours of help per week, ideally 3 hours per day 5 days per week
    🔃
In exchange, you’ll have a whole apartment just for you, that you will be sharing with other volunteers.
You’ll need to take care of your own groceries.

The first 2 days of your stay are for both of us to try the experience, if that works out minimum stay is 2 weeks. Maximum stay is 1 month, but we might be open to longer stays.

🌼 Note that this is a countryside environment, so you’ll be in touch with nature, soil and animals/insects. If you’re not comfortable with it we understand it but we ask you not to apply. You’ll find yourself with dirty hands at the end of the day, yet you will get to experience the real Italian countryside life and enjoy a quiet and relaxing environment, all being just outside of the nice town of Ladispoli and at 30 minutes from the eternal city of Rome.

    ABOUT THE HOUSE
🏡 We live in a countryside villa with two floors, one is the volunteers house: you will be staying here, sharing the bedroom and bathroom as well as the other areas of the apartment with other volunteers.
Please note it’s an old Italian house so don’t expect perfect architecture or new/modern appliances, for example no air conditioning nor dishwasher.

The volunteer house has a kitchen and dining room, a bedroom and a bathroom with shower. The kitchen is small and very humble but fully furnished with pans, silverware, plates, etc.
You’re welcome to use the washing machine (you’ll be in charge of your own detergent).

You’ll find a friendly and familiar environment where you can feel at ease and comfortable. As long as you bring good vibes, are willing and are respectful of the place you’ll be calling home for a while, you’ll be more than welcome in our home and family 🤍

We don’t have big restrictions, you can come and go from the house as you please, cook whatever you prefer, spend your free time as you want ☮️
We only have a few basic rules: no smoke nor drugs in the house and don’t bring any strangers in without asking us. If you respect these basic rules and use normal good sense (don’t break the law, don’t intentionally destroy anything in the house, etc.) it will be a pleasure to host you!
Please note that in case any of these things happened we’d be forced to ask you to leave without advance notice 💔

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    ABOUT THE TOWN
The town of Ladispoli offers all the essential services and more: seaside, shopping, amazing food and great gelatos. We are sorrounded by important archeological and natural sites and we’re in a really strategic position, since it takes about half an hour or less by car to basically any kind of activity: lakes, waterfalls, parks, archeological sites, museums, night clubs, you name it ✨

Ladispoli is 5 to 7 minutes away by car, and Rome about 30/40 minutes away (might take more depending on where you need to go, traffic, etc). We do suggest you rent a car if you can.
If you don’t have a car, you can get to Ladispoli by bus (the bus stop is right in front of our house) and be at the centre of the town in about 20 minutes.
Remember we’re in the countryside so bus timetables go from 6am to 7pm, and it only passes once per hour or less (no buses Saturdays and Sundays).
We have a car and go to Ladispoli at leat twice per week so you’ll be able to get a lift to or from the town.

Please note that there are no shops near the house, so you do need to go to town for groceries and other needs. On the other hand, we have three restaurants at walking distance from our house: a good pizzeria, an “agriturismo” (typical restaurant with local products grown right here in the fields) and a steakhouse.

From Ladispoli you can take the train to Rome, which takes 30 to 50 minutes (depending on where you want to go).

It is also possible to get to Ladispoli by bike or by foot. We don’t suggest it because it’s quite a long way and some countryside streets can be dangerous since they’re not meant for bikers or pedestrians, but we can talk about it when you get here and maybe find you a bike to use.

    ⬇️
    In conclusion..
If you read our description we want to thank you for your attention and we ask you to please write at the head of your message the word “welcome”.

In your message you can tell us about you, your interests and skills, what you expect from this experience, and why you think we could be a good match.
Also, our goal is to be as transparent and clear as possible, in order for everyone to feel comfortable when choosing to come here, so just ask any questions or information you might need.

We are looking forward to hear from you and get to know you!
    Grazie e a presto,
    Miri & Luis
