Description
We are a community project in development .

We are looking for people from now until the 20th of June 2025

We offer warm and comfy accommodation in exchange of 3 hours of work 5 days a week (FOOD NOT INCLUDED).

We are located next to Sant Fruitós de Bages, a little town in the centre of Catalonia. Our land is 3 hectares wide with 1670m of constructed area. We have private spaces for everyone, terraces, pool, lots of trees, pool table, music area, cinema room, VR set.
In the house usually there is always between 3 and 6 people either volunteers or people living.
We are surrounded by a commercial area and fields and have a 360 view from the house. There are mountains around for tracking and climbing.

We really appreciate respect values, open-minded people, openhearted... Good vibes.

Before and after Winter we would like to create new agroforestry systems. So we need to propagate plants and trees, spread some shredded wood and make a little design :D
Other tasks are gardening and caring for our orchard, cooking, general maintenance.

In the community we share some activities you can join like climbing, jam sessions, yoga, volleyball, dancing and eventual celebrations...

Phew, what a time I had at Axel‘s! I spent 4 weeks there and I had a really good experience.

The place is a huge compound with both a big house and garden. In my time there we were between 3 and 11 workawayers so you get the idea of the place‘s capacity to house people :) there are three double rooms and then there’s another dorm-like space… read more upstairs. Plenty of space for campervans also.

We worked from 9-13 Monday to Friday and the mission is basically to renovate the house and prepare it for community living. Most of it is easy work, sometimes it’s more physical. I was involved in building some stairs to the compost, painting pillars, assembling IKEA stuff, sanding and varnishing wooden things, cleaning of course, cracking walnuts and many other smaller or bigger tasks. The main thing to mention here is that you don’t really need any kind of expertise whatsoever but really you’ll have the opportunity to try and learn stuff (like for me with the stairs - I’d never done that before!). Of course if you’re handy and bring experience in carpentry or something else that doesn’t hurt but it’s not at all a requirement.

On workdays lunch is shared (1-2 people cook during their work hours) and for the other meals you can totally do your own thing or team up with others depending on your preference. Big shoutout to Axel for keeping the space mostly vegetarian/vegan. I was the only vegan person there and still it was no discussion at all that the shared meals are at least partly vegan. I don’t take this for granted at all. A note on food: Axel in an astonishing generosity provided loads of high quality food, much of it organic and local, that you/everyone can use. If you want to buy extra stuff for your own, there’s a Carrefour supermarket just 10-15 minutes by foot.

The rest of the day after work and the weekend is free and you can really co-create here. Some people (including me) had some online work to do sometimes, but most of the time if you feel like company you will find it. There’s instruments, a pool table, a swimming pool, a VR set, a cinema room, a huge garden, slackline set, a ping pong table (improvised). So plenty of opportunities. However you’ll also find enough time and space for yourself if needed. In the free time also we did cool stuff like hiking in the nearby mountains, going to the climbing gym, going to the movies for example. You can reach Barcelona in 60-90 minutes by train from nearby town Manresa, where someone will usually be able to give you a lift to.

Overall there was this beautiful atmosphere of acceptance and tolerance. There is a lot of mutual respect for people‘s ways of living which I really appreciate. Axel really cares for the living environment everyone creates and shares and especially when it comes to in-house communication and also cleaning there were still some bumps in the road, which I think is perfectly understandable in the very early stage of the project. Just know that you’ll share a kitchen with up to 10 other beings so things MIGHT get messy sometimes. Communication and self-awareness are key :)

The surroundings of the house are not necessarily the most appealing since it’s mostly a commercial area but you can reach quiet areas by foot in like 20-30 minutes if you go for a walk. There are also bikes you can use for longer adventures.

Overall all I can say is that this is such a lovely project and place with beautiful souls meeting, learning and growing there.

I‘m super grateful to have made this experience and can totally see myself coming back some time :)
