Description
We are a couple with an arts background wishing to establish our ideal studio space while also practicing permaculture to help us be responsible food producers/consumers. We would like to continue our vision for the surroundings to be transformed into a low maintenance permaculture forest garden. In 2015 we built a greenhouse with a chicken coop from salvaged materials as we are frugal with both materials and food. We have had wonderful helpers during summer and autumn who helped us with our daily duties. These included picking berries and apples and preparing them as jams etc. The future will see that we continue to build our farm into a green residential home, and we will require help with cleaning, planting, harvesting and overall maintenance of the farm.
It's important to note that our water supply is limited and showers should be irregular and short. During summer the nearby lakes are ideal for a wash.
This is a place best suited to individual travellers who have respect for animals and people alike and enjoy the quiet and slow pace lifestyle in the country. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Our farm is a place based on permaculture practices, which use nature as inspiration and guide. Therefore those who have a special interest in this can learn from our practical experiences with hands on approach. Our diverse cultural and life experiences can give those who visit a richer perspective, not exclusively related to Norway.

Help
As we are not a farm based on its economical output, we spend half of our time on other projects. This means that we cannot have helpers staying for longer than 10-14 days. We welcome new beginners and experienced helpers, who can do simple and repetitive tasks such as picking blackcurrant and redcurrants and other berries. There are are small tasks such as grass clipping by hand, weeding, house painting, fence reparation and other small daily tasks.

Accommodation
In summer, we can set up an outdoor tent and provide our helpers with sleeping mattresses, bedding, pillows and blankets. It is not required of the helpers to bring their own.
We eat little meat and regular fish and vegetarian meals. We, naturally, have lots of egg in our diet as we have chickens. We will make dinner and serve the food to our helpers. We eat dinner together but breakfast and lunch are self serviced. -
What else ...
This place s connected by buses to Oslo and nearby towns. It is known for its natural beauty of the main lake and many enjoy walks in the large areas of woodlands.
