I am single woman running a beautiful, small country guest house, offering eclectic, individually styled accommodation in the Natal Midlands (KwaZulu Natal Province), South Africa. Set on 15 acres of scenic meadows and forest, our guests come to relax and get away from the bustling cities.
I also have a delightful deli/restaurant at the bottom of our property where we serve country breakfasts or host dinner parties for our guests.
We are fairly remote, and conduct our shopping and errands in Nottingham Road - a quaint village. The green rolling landscapes are magnificent and give off a feeling of living in the English countryside. Which is quite unusual for being in Africa.
Our establishment may attract those interested in hiking, trail running and mountain biking - there are plenty of waterfalls and trails to be discovered close by. We are also not too far from the Drakensberg mountain range. If you really want a change of climate and scenery - head to the beach (an hours drive to Durban).
Myself, the owner of the guest house, am a native german speaker with a creative, free spirited flair. I have also traveled extensively in Africa and we can share many a story over a glass of wine (or cup of tea).

THIS IS A CULTURAL EXCHANGE.
It is not to be confused with paid employment or remunerations.
You will have an opportunity to experience the culturally rich country that is South Africa, and gain experience in the daily routines of running a small country guest house.
We also accept Interns who require work experience for their studies in tourism.
As we are based in the countryside, there are plenty of fantastic opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts - especially since the Drakensberg and Durban are not too far away.
Creativity is encouraged and sharing skills and knowledge is appreciated.
I would like help with our small, country guest house.
The help with the guest house would include light building/maintenance, helping with our guests and with the guest house in general. Some gardening would be great too.
We are also interested in creating and selling home crafts, preserves etc. in our small deli - so creativity and sharing ideas and skills is encouraged!
We also have two sweet natured dogs, chickens and guinea fowl which would also love some attention from you!
Volunteers will have their own, separate self-catering unit with small kitchenette and bathroom (with shower). As we only take one couple (or two single people) at a time - you won't be sharing with a large number of people.
WE ONLY TAKE ONE COUPLE OR TWO SINGLE INDIVIDUALS AT A TIME.
We do have wifi and if a volunteer has an international drivers license, then we may be able to offer them one of the working vehicles on the property.
As we are a rustic, country guest house, we would prefer someone who enjoys a peaceful, quiet, nature loving lifestyle. However, chit-chat over a glass of wine in the evenings is encouraged with guests or owner.
As we are mainly busy on the weekends, there will be quite a bit of time in the week to explore and do your own thing.
Non-smokers will have preference.
