  • Description

My name is Juan Andres and I have been a guide for over 20 years. My business is a lodge for adventure tourism (kayaking, rafting, fishing, trekking, horseback riding, and more) in Ralun, Chile. Currently, I am taking care of the lodge by myself. In the summer months, all of my time is spent guiding excursions.

This 2019-2020 summer season (October - April), I am ideally looking for 2 people to help out and stay at the lodge and 2 people to camp with me at the local laguna, Laguna Cayutuè, to work with clients there. You will camp with me and the guests. The laguna is stunning, with volcanoes in the background. It is about an hour from the main lodge, 1.5 hours from Puerto Varas, and very close to the famous Cochomo Valley. I can send pictures if you would like.

I like to work with workaway foreigners because we exchange cultures and we learn languages. I need to practice my English and my German. I will be able to show you Chilean Patagonia culture and land.

  • Help

First of all, you must teach me how to improve my English.
I also need people who love nature and life in it as we will be camping and working outside a lot. A normal "work" day includes waking up very early, then going out with customers to kayak, raft, fish, etc. Other help includes driving, moving boats to the river, moving clients to the airport, as well as maintenance in the lodge like cutting grass, painting or cleaning. Every day there is something new to do and it is varied and entertaining no matter whether you stay at the lodge or camp with me.

  • Accommodation

If you are camping at the laguna, I will provide all meals and tent accommodation. There is even an outdoor shower. There is no cell service or WIFI there.

When working in the lodge, you will sleep in the lodge in a shared room with other workawayers, or in one of the smaller, very comfortable cabins, also shared with workawayers. You will have electricity, WIFI, hot water, wood stove heating, bathroom with hot shower, and a comfortable bed. You will have your own space when needed, yet all the comforts that the lodge can offer. In the cabin, you will have the same amenities . There will be days that we eat as a group with myself and the guests as well.

Again, all food is included both at the lodge and the camping.

To get here, it is very easy from Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas. There are buses every day.

In your free time you can do many things in nature or go to the city of Puerto Varas. Puerto Varas is the tourism capital of our region and has many things to do. It is just 50 minutes from the lodge, which you can get to easily by bus everyday.

There are tons of trekking, rafting, kayaing, fishing, and biking around here. We are just 20 minutes away from the famous Cochomo Valley (which you can also take the bus to), and right next to the famous Rio Petrohué.

Come to my lodge where you can meet local Chileans and other travelers, and see magical places.
