    Our cozy and relaxed hostel in a Victorian townhouse is just minutes away walking distance from Inverness city center, Castle and River Ness.

    With 34 beds, the hostel provides dormitories and private rooms.

    We do our best to provide excellent service and keep everything nice and tidy while keeping affordable prices.

    -Immerse yourself in the local Scottish Highland culture. Being based on the capital of the Highlands will allow you to visit all of what the region has to offer. But don't be tricked by the title of the city, it remains a walkable village with many local venues and plenty of cultural offer.
    -Great for nature lovers! There's many a walk, hike, and cycling to be done around Inverness
    - Learn and experience the Hostel and hospitality way first hand.

    As a Duty Manager you will be providing general assistance around the hostel by working at the front desk, performing housekeeping duties, doing beds and laundry and maintaining the facility.

    This is a part-time and live-in position (shared accommodation in a staff room is provided)

    Wage: £12.60 per hour

    Starting date: as soon as possible

    Responsibilities and duties (without being limited to):

    Welcome, register, orient and oversee guest stays.
    Take reservations over the phone, online or at the door.
    Responding to and resolving guest inquiries, issues, comments and feedback.
    Proficiently operate our property management system.
    Maintain security and safety of the hostel
    Training new staff if needed
    Replying to online reviews and emails
    Housekeeping (i.e.: Stripping and making beds, Vacuuming rooms, dusting, cleaning bathroom and kitchen, mopping, sorting trash and recycling)
    Laundry (washing, drying, folding)
    Being involved in the day-to-day repairs and maintenance requirements within the hostel
    Supporting the General Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the hostel
    The suitable candidate will have:

    A strong positive attitude and eagerness to learn are a must
    Self-motivation, decision making, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
    Must enjoy working with the public and be able to professionally handle guest issues, conflicts, or emergencies that may arise.
    Excellent oral communication and organizational skills
    Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team environment as well as demonstrated ability to work effectively without immediate supervision
    Ability to multi-task efficiently
    Computer literacy is required.
    Fluent in English. 2nd language is a plus.

    Please note that :

    -You will need to have the right to work in the UK.

    -The role involves physical activities such as bed making on upper and lower bunk beds, including stripping and turning beds on a daily basis as well as lifting laundry baskets and climbing stairs. It also requires some flexibility and you must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required by schedule.

    - Priority will be given to someone able to stay long term, preferably 6 months or more with a minimum of 2 months.
