Dylan aged 23, is currently living & working full time in a Gym in Queensland, he is studying a certificate 3 & 4 in fitness/personal training, our second son Zach aged 20, was our local bicycle mechanic & store assistant for 9 years, he too is living up North now. Lastly our 13 year old Daughter Kiera, she is a happy, caring little girl who loves music, art, technology and nurturing smaller children, babies & animals, Kiera is in year 8 high school.
We are primarily sheep farmers but also run & own another business to supply tyres to most vehicles, vehicle batteries & other supplies. Sean also works in engineering & manufacturing here, building custom designed trailers, farm equipment & repair work on mostly everything. We shear our sheep once a year, mostly around the last couple of weeks of August into early September, this lasts up to two weeks to shear all our sheep. We crutch/shave wool from rear of sheep in late February to prepare our ewes (female sheep) for giving birth to their baby lambs born normally in early April, this can take from one to two weeks to do.
We cook multi cultural foods, as we enjoy some Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Italian & Australian cuisines, we always endevour to grow our own & source locally organic produce for our cooking. When we get the time on limited occasions, we like to make fermented foods & beverages, like vegetables, Kefir water, ginger & turmeric beer, vegan nut cheese, raw seed crackers and dehydrating vegetables & fruit etc, we are always trying to find ways to better our health & bodies.
We enjoy when we can, to show our visitors around our farm & places we have in our hills property/4WD access only, one being a very old 1867 stone hut that is a famous stop for a many tourists, annually we have a school class from our nearest city Adelaide, that travel about 300 kilometers to camp here. Inside our hut is two rooms, one being a sleeping area & the other a cooking area with large open fire place.
We keep free range chickens, 10 guinea fowl, 2 pet sheep named Hercules & Shi , Kieras small pet puppy named Milo, (our house dog) & our 3 female working dogs (Tippy, Hooker & our learning young dog Roxie) they are vital to helping us to move sheep from paddock to paddock. We care for our pets & animals very well, as we are very fond of them all.

We are looking for singles or couples that can be varied in their skills, the following help is not all required at the one time, it greatly depends on seasons & what is needed at different times:
Most requirements are just general tiding of property, moving, chainsawing up of fallen trees & repairing fencing, collection of fire wood (before winter), weeding, small building & maintenance repairs, raking & stacking of wood etc. As we also have a large garden area, it would be good to have someone gardening & helping to prepare soil for planting, we are also needing help with designing & building our own greenhouse from recycled materials, general tiding of area around house, sweeping, watering plants, removal of leaf & dirt litter.
We would gratefully appreciate it if you could help with our DAILY food preparations & washing meals dishes, sometimes we also are needing help with general house cleaning duties, helping with the hanging up of clothes to dry after washing and sometimes cleaning & organizing of household fridges. It would be great if you could help us to also care for our pets/animals, feeding, cleaning their living areas and just general care. We are sure you will get to love them as much as we do and enjoy the interactions.
During our shearing time (busiest time of year for us) in late August to early September when we are shearing our sheep, help would be enormously appreciated in the kitchen, helping prepare foods, taking morning and afternoon tea down to shearing shed and washing of dishes.
Our Daughter sometimes needs help with school home work, reading & math mainly. General daily help would be gratefully appreciated with washing dishes & food preparations during your stay.
If you have a vehicle, caravan or camper trailer, we are very happy to also help or supply you with your vehicles tyres, battery, or repairs (within our time allowances), in exchange for any extra help you can give us outside Workaway food & accommodation agreement.
Please note, our general payment agreement will be only, food & accommodation, in exchange for 5 hours a day, 5 days a week.
PLEASE BE AWARE: (as advised by Australian Border Force Security)
THAT YOUR STAY WITH US REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE A "WORKING HOLIDAY MAKER VISA 417".
WE HAVE A POLICY OF AT LEAST ONE WEEK STAY, AFTER THIS TIME WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO DISCUSS A LONGER TERM STAY, DEPENDING ON HOW YOU FIT IN WITH OUR FAMILY LIFE.

If you have a special dietary requirement, please share with us on your arrival or preferably before, so we can make arrangement to acquire the ingredients you need before your visit.
As we are a small town & live remotely, we do have to travel nearly an hour to get our main supplies for food, if we arrange with you prior, to have to pick you up from one of these areas (Pt Augusta or Pt Pirie) we will try to take you to do some shopping before we return home. Otherwise, if possible, we can arrange a special trip to take you to pick up some food that serves your dietary requirements. It is all about making you feel at home & comfortable.
On agreement & assessment, it may also be possible to provide you with the use of one of our vehicles or bicycles to explore some of our local area.
On any days that aren't convenient to pick you up from Port Pirie or Port Augusta, there is a pick up & drop off bus point between Port Pirie & Port Augusta we can manage much better, it is only about 20 mins or 40 kilometers from us. Ask the bus company to drop you off at "High Way 1 Wilmington turn off (A1 & B56) Winnanowie", the bus company to catch out of Adelaide is Premier/Stateliner. If traveling from Victoria, there is also a Firefly bus out of Melbourne that will connect in Adelaide.
Looking forward very much to meeting & getting to know you, having some fun memorable times and for you to join our family while your here.
