We are an off-grid, solar-powered permaculture and wellness center in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Santa Marta, Colombia. We are growing a food forest of cacao and other fruit trees, building natural structures to host guests and retreats, sharing vegetarian delicious food and just being part of nature's beauty. Ours is a magical place with a little creek flowing through, lots of land to explore, birds, bees, howler monkeys and kind people aplenty.
We are Jesse, Tala and Nacir. Nacir was born in our bamboo home in autumn of 2017. Jesse is from the USA and practices acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, along with sound healing, guitar and Zhong Xin Dao (an internal martial art like Tai Chi). Tala is a sound therapist, professional vocalist, rockstar Mama and chef of delicious foods. Nacir is pure love. Our project is starting to take off; currently we are building an addition to our house, taking care of the garden, and preparing soon to construct a natural swimming pool.
We are also Jose 'Poca Lucha', PinPin, Ledi, Yojana and 4-year old Dulce Maria. We are all local Colombians and without us this project of a lifetime could never happen!
Quite full of life and responsibilities, we are continually taking care of 17 month old Nacir, overseeing construction projects, taking care of our forest of cacao and fruit trees, planting new things in the greenhouse, making delicious food and so on. We are blessed to have some wifi in the main house/cafe, and strive for living a balanced life led with love, integrity and principles of unification and sustainability.
Usually we only have one workawayer or a couple. We are excited to meet some wonderful workawayers who align with our flow, so come on up to our mountain land if you feel the call!

A workaway stay here offers opportunities of learning about permaculture, introductions to music, sound, tai chi and other wellness practices and a place to practice your English or Spanish skills. Our finca is a place for exploring consciousness, where growth and peace are easily found. You will be able to experience off-the-grid living on a farm in a remote yet popular area of Colombia. You will have the opportunity to know your self a little better, to know nature a bit deeper and to practice just BEING you without judgment - and without too many outside distractions:)
Our local Colombian team speaks only Spanish and is interested in learning English, so we are a great place to practice and teach what you know!
Our meals are mostly vegetarian, super yummy food and we even have homemade kombucha!
We are consistently looking for someone who is comfortable around babies and lending a helping hand where it is needed around the house. Be ok with holding a 1.5 year old child and changing a diaper. Experience with with young children (within the last 5 yrs) is a +, although not mandatory. Basic help in the kitchen and around the house. Help in the garden could be good, as well.
If you are a film maker, we would love to work on a new video showing our place to potential guests.
Skilled carpenter/natural builder, we could always use help on projects. Building a swimming pond, solar hot water system. solar deyhydrator, furniture, a tea house..... there is always something to be making!
We require a minimum stay of 4 weeks, working 25 hours per week, 5 hours a day. If you could help us make a promotional video, we would be open to a shorter stay of two weeks.
We provide three vegetarian meals per day on your working days. You are responsible for providing your own food and snacks for your days off.
We have a large, 3-room tent for you to stay in. There are two entrances. The roof is tall enough to stand up in. You will have a comfortable bed here.
We are comfortably remote and a 3.5 km, or about a one hour walk from Minca. The hike to our Finca consists of a bit of an up hill climb, crossing of the Arimaca River, and during rain season the road is very muddy. However, it is a beautiful walk. You can always take a moto from Minca to us.
The beautiful cascada marinka is a 20 minute walk. Rio Arimaca and another small creek border our property, providing healing water to listen and lay in if you desire. There are all kinds of hiking possibilities, to different farms and places of interest such as Finca La Victoria (oldest Colombian coffee plantation), Los Pinos and Finca La Semilla.
THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO MAKE PARTY. Smoking, alcohol and drugs are absolutely NOT permitted. No judgment, this is simply not the place for those things.
While there IS a lot to see and experience, it is quite important to realize we are a place of peace and tranquility, located a good ways from the business of cities. Please consider this and be prepared to immerse yourself into the nature a bit! To have good conversation, spend quality time with one's self and other good people, to ponder, to create, to share good food and to simply BE..... this is the place we are creating!
