I have a farm with sheep, pigs, cows and chichens at Røst in Lofoten. In spring its lambingseason, and we need to feed, water and care for around 300 pregnant sheep. So we could really need some extra hands on the farm! To be spesific I want to start a prodject vere we pick seeweed for supplying food to the amimals and try to replace the impored soy from Brazil that we feed them with today with fresh seaweed that contains the same nutrients. We are organic and also there are two cats and a dog at the farm, so this is totaly the wrong place for someone with an allergy! The help will be to harvest seaweed, wach the animals while i'm fishing and in general be a part of the household. The house is from 1880 so its old, but we have high speed internet and you will have your own room.
Just so you know, farmwork can be very hard, we carry a lot of stuff and you get dirty.
Help in the house
Røst is the most outer island in Lofoten and are spectacular for photos and beeing outdoors. The locals are very welcoming, and for sure you will find friends here. The farm is a social place too, so i think here is a perfect bland of peace and quiet and social activities!
We need help waching the animals, harvesting seeweed for animal food, and in general be a part of the household. We are restoring several old buildings at the farm and also building a new barn for the cows, so if you have any building experience, it would be very welcoming!
You will have your own room in my house, and we share everything else. The house is renovated a little bit, but with such an old house it seems like a forever prodject :) The standard i will say i normal, nothing fancy but warm and welcoming. Here is food and meals for workaways, sometimes we eat together, but everyone is free to make food on the kichen for all of us!
The comunication out here are not very good, but there is a ferry going from bodø 1-2 times a day, and you can fly from Bodø and Lofoten out here morning and evening every day.
