    Description

Volunteers Retreats in 2025: 4-13 April 2025 and 31 October-9 November. We regret that we are unable to host Workawayers at other times.

‘Land of beautiful vision’ is a Triratna Buddhist Retreat Centre located on the Coromandel peninsula in Aotearoa, New Zealand. It is situated on 80 hectares of rugged native forest where we maintain an off-grid eco facility. This is home to a small community of individually practising Buddhists who manage the Centre and land for group and solitary retreats.

Volunteers Retreats are an opportunity to live and work alongside members of the Buddhist community. We especially welcome those who wish to learn more about meditation and the Dharma.

Sudarshanaloka is a 90 minute drive from Auckland and 10 minutes from the rural town of Thames, the gateway to the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. Thames is served by Intercity buses from auckland and Tauranga. During the retreat there are many tracks and two rivers to explore on the Sudarshanaloka land, as well as use of our library and meditation halls. Before or after the retreat you may wish to visit the beaches, walk the long-distance tramping trails with DOC accomodation cabins, or ride the Hauraki Rail Cycling Trail.
