    Description

We are a small, privately run animal rescue located in the beautiful countryside of Andalusia, near the Grazalema Mountains.

Our main focus is rescuing dogs in need – from the streets, from hunters, and from difficult or neglectful situations. We provide them with a safe place, veterinary care, love and patience until they are ready for a new life. Most of our dogs are eventually adopted by loving families in Germany.

Our shelter can accommodate around 40–70 dogs. We are a small team of six animal lovers who take turns caring for the dogs and keeping everything running.

Life at our shelter is very hands-on and sometimes challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. Every day is different, and seeing a frightened or neglected dog slowly gain trust and confidence makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Staying with us is a great opportunity to experience authentic Andalusian life away from the usual tourist destinations.

You can improve your Spanish through everyday life and interaction with the local community, while also learning more about dogs, their behaviour and how to work with dogs in a calm and respectful way.

We are located about 10 minutes from a small traditional white village (Pueblo Blanco), where you can experience local life, culture and Spanish traditions. Throughout the year, there are local festivals and celebrations to discover.

The area is also surrounded by the unique and beautiful nature of the Grazalema Mountains, offering plenty of opportunities for hiking, exploring and enjoying the Andalusian countryside.

We are happy to share our knowledge, our love for the animals and our way of life, and we enjoy learning about the cultures and experiences of our Workawayers in return.

  • Help

    Help

Our daily work mainly involves taking care of the dogs and keeping the shelter and finca running smoothly.

    Typical tasks include:

    * Cleaning and maintaining the dog enclosures
    * Providing fresh water and preparing and giving food
    * Walking the dogs and giving them attention, exercise and enrichment
    * Spending time with the dogs, helping them build trust and confidence
    * Helping with basic cleaning and general tasks around the finca
    * Small repairs and maintenance work
    * Looking after the land and outdoor areas
    * Helping with whatever needs to be done on the day

The work is varied and hands-on. Some days are mainly about the dogs, while on other days there may be maintenance, gardening, land care or small repair jobs to take care of.

We are looking for people who are not afraid of getting their hands dirty, can work independently and responsibly, and are happy to help wherever needed. Most importantly, we need people who are calm, patient and experienced with dogs, as some of our dogs come from difficult backgrounds and require understanding and respectful handling.

You will stay on our finca, which is surrounded by the beautiful countryside and is home to our animal shelter.

There are two accommodation options, depending on availability:

    Guest house:
A small, cosy guest house with your own private bathroom. Please note that the guest house may occasionally also be used to accommodate a few dogs when needed.

    Main house:
A private guest room in the main house, with a shared bathroom and a shared kitchen and living area.

Both options offer a peaceful place to relax after helping with the dogs and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

Food is provided for three meals a day. We also grow some of our own fresh fruit and vegetables on the finca, which you are welcome to enjoy.
