Description
Hello all!
Carlo and I have been helpers on many projects around the world over the past 10 years but now we are launching into our own dream.
We are located in a beautiful nature reserve with river access and 5 km from natural hot springs.
This property has been abandoned the past 30 years so there is much to be done. We are both farmers and builders. We have 600 (baby) olive trees (just planted), a large vegetable garden, small vineyard, chickens, lavender, and 1 hectare of heritage fruit and nut trees. Also starting a food forest!
Our farm is a homestead. The garden is only for auto consumption. We will be an agritourism business in the future (rent apartments to guests and provide breakfast) but we will not ask workawayers to help with this aspect.
We are a young couple, 34 years old. We met while travelling in Australia. We like music, dance, yoga, meditation, and dinners with friends.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live in a rural setting but there is a thriving community nearby. The local hot springs are always a fun place to meet new people. There is a charming medieval town close by. We have regular potlucks and get-togethers with our community of friends. We have hosted ecstatic dances, bbqs, and fire gatherings. Close by is the city of Siena as well as the coast. Lots of peace and tranquility here without lacking connection.

Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
Helpers tasks varies with the seasons - could be gardening, planting, pruning, watering, tool maintenance, tending to the chickens, wood stacking, food preservation, or creative landscaping/beautifying projects. Help could be with us or independent tasks.
Our farm is a homestead. The garden is only for auto consumption. We will be an agritourism business in the future (rent apartments to guests and provide breakfast) but we will not ask workawayers to help with this aspect.

Accommodation
Guest accommodation is private from where we live. You will be upstairs in the farmhouse with private access. We live in the renovated stables on ground level.
You will have a private room complete with bed, sheets, pillows and a wardrobe. If you are the only helper, you will have the whole house to yourself. Otherwise you will share the kitchen space with another helper.
There is access to power upstairs but no running water.
We use a compost toilet outside so must be comfortable with this set-up. It's kind of like 'glamping'. We have a lovely outdoor shower near the vineyard for guest use.
Given the nature of the accommodations, we can only host guests from April - October.
We are asking for 15 hours of help/week. Likely this would be divided into 3 hours/day for 5 days a week. We work the mornings and prefer if helpers would join us in that time, but we are flexible and can discuss various arrangements.
We will provide a hearty lunch but breakfast and dinner will be taken on your own. We will provide some staple ingredients for these meals and of course the opportunity for grocery shopping. At times we might eat dinner together too, just depends on the flow of the day.
What else ...
We have 2 bikes for helpers' use and there are buses that offer transport to Siena, Grosseto, Firenze. If we are going out to run errands or have a fun day out, helpers are certainly welcome to join us.
