Description
I live in Mercantour, in the magnificent Vésubie valley. Summer in the mountain pastures (Gordolasque valley, a tributary of the Vésubie), "winter" close to the village. I love the mountains and all the activities you can do there. I am very sociable. I like to talk about everything. I am a mountain guide and can easily advise on walks for example. I want everyone to feel good. My experiences have been pretty good so far, :)
I try to have a life as closely as possible with my values, and strive towards a better balance with the environment, while remaining "connected" to civilization....
So I have a fairly large vegetable garden, which is at least partially inspired by permaculture, a large orchard, chickens, a cat, a dog...
I am part of a collective that works to better manage the "transition", with a host of resulting projects.
I rent cottages in these charming places. (Workawayers will not be asked to work in these lodges).
The help requested concerns my own home / vegetable garden.
I work (among other things) as a mountain guide.
In the summer, we live in the chalet, in the mountain pastures at an altitude of 1550m (first photos). From around November, we live next to the village, (last photo, altitude 850m). In both cases, quiet places :)
I don't want people to smoke inside the house! ;) I am a non-smoker.Types of help and learning opportunities

In my opinion, the major attractions are:
- the Mercantour mountains, its animals, the activities and life associated with them
- the infinite learning around the vegetable garden and processing
- learning, if necessary, to "tinker"
- Exchanges with the tenants, French but also foreign, who often have a common passion: nature - nice meetings with this entire ecosystem (shelters, friends market gardeners, breeders, actions and meetings with members of the "transition" collective (why not lowtech manufacturing ...)
I am a mountain guide (guide), a naturalist, and practice many activities: I can provide good advice on getting to know this environmentHelp
I especially need help in the vegetable garden-orchard. Depending on the season: preparation, maintenance, planting, picking and processing.
I sometimes also need support to take care of the animals when I go to work in the mountains. This implies that you will need a little sensitivity: liking to play, walking with our four-legged friends...
These needs do not require special skills, but require interest and a minimum level of openness to exchanges.
I would also appreciate help with digital communication :)
Meals are shared, roommate style: we turn to the kitchen! I'm not always there: I do the shopping before I leave. In summer in particular, garden products are a pleasant addition.
Quantity of work required: in accordance with the advice of the Workaway site, the basis is 20 to 25 hours per week, in exchange for accommodation and food. This hourly volume is revised downwards a little when I leave and the animals have to be taken care of. Each exchange will therefore be specific and will require agreement on the conditions.Languages

J'aimerais en particulier apprendre l'italien et pratiquer l'anglais... Le vocabulaire est là... Quelque part mais où?Accommodation
In a guest room, at my place (mountain chalet), or depending on the season in my accommodation in the village.
Bathroom shared with the host.
.What else ...
Your free time can certainly be spent in a multitude of ways in this extremely rich environment. In addition to the activities mentioned above, around the mountain of agriculture and tourism, the valley is rich in its past as well as its present. For those who take the trouble to move, there are (especially in summer) numerous social and artistic activities: traditional village festivals, markets, concerts, story-telling evenings, conferences, games... There are numerous fortifications of the Maginot line which deserve walks, or picturesque villages.
Sites like the Vésubia Mountain Park or the Berthemont les Bains thermal baths, the Roquebillière basin...
The rivers are also very popular with fishermen.
Transport: a bus serves the Vésubie Valley from Nice, 3 times during the day for €2.
Hitchhiking works really well but carpooling unfortunately much less well.
In summary for transport: it works but it is still desirable to be motorized. In particular to get to the vegetable garden which, in summer, is a 15-minute drive from the chalet.
The Côte d'Azur is an hour and a half drive away: convenient for a change of scenery from time to time ;)
I love all games, card games, pétanque... Trail, canyoning and hiking...A little more information
