Description
Hi there! We’re a friendly, adventurous Canadian family of four living in sunny Del Mar, California. Our home is a few minutes to the beach, and we’re soaking up the opportunity to explore this beautiful part of the world.
Life in our house is lively, full of energy, and centered around connecting with others. We’re passionate about cultural exchange and love meeting people from all over the world. Danielle speaks Portuguese, French, and Spanish and is always excited to practice or share her knowledge of these languages. Jake, who once taught English in Korea, is equally enthusiastic about language and cultural learning.
Before settling into family life, we traveled extensively—backpacking, hiking, camping, and even taking a year to live out of a tent while exploring the globe. Now, as we adjust to life in California, we’re looking forward to welcoming someone who’s eager to share stories, experiences, and their culture with us.
We’d love for you to join our family for a while, enjoy everything this area has to offer, and help us with a variety of tasks around the house.Types of help and learning opportunities

We’re excited to share this chapter of our lives with someone curious and eager to connect. Having just moved from Canada, we know what it’s like to adapt to a new environment, and we’d love to make your experience here memorable.
We’re big on cultural exchange, and with Danielle’s fluency in multiple languages, there are plenty of opportunities for language practice. If you’re interested in learning more about life in California or sharing insights from your own culture, we’re all ears.
Our home is always open to good conversation, sharing meals, and trading stories. Whether it’s discovering a new recipe together, teaching us a game from your culture, or simply exchanging travel experiences, we’re here for it all.
We’ll also happily show you around Del Mar and beyond. From gorgeous beaches and scenic hiking trails to local coffee shops and restaurants, there’s so much to explore, and we’d love to share our favorite spots with you.Projects involving children
