Description
Our mission is research, education, and conservation of our natural world, culture and heritage.
Our motto is RESPECT for ourselves, then others, then the environment. In the past two years, we published research papers, we built a botanical garden with an integrated water and land ecosystem, we developed permaculture including beekeeping and aquaponics systems, and we engaged in environmental education. The museum is a magnet for wildlife and people in Bethlehem.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
There are many benefits including learning new skills, meeting new people, learning about the situation in Bethlehem, interactions with people of various faiths, have chance to expand knowledge of this part of the fertile crescent (where agriculture first developed), visit fascinating places like the birthplace of Jesus and the oldest continuously inhabited town on earth (Jericho) and many more. You will also delve into deep-rooted Palestine Culture, rich cuisine, historical monuments (including world heritage sites like Battir), and learning more about regional conflict.
You can also explore the exotic Palestinian biodiversity (ecotourism) as well as discovering the contrast in the geological setting. You can explore areas from the lowest point on earth (Dead sea) in the Jordan valley to high mountains with Mediterranean forests.
We require a minimum stay of three weeks.Help
Opportunities to volunteer exist in research, collection management, maintaining small living animals, maintaining and plant trees and herbs, maintaining greenhouse and aquaponics systems, composting, photography, administrative areas, fundraising, media, education, art, and exhibits related to our mission. Despite the fact that I volunteered only one day (yes, it was the shortest experience in the world), I gained tremendous knowledge about the Palestine culture and looked the other way around how people live behind the wall.
Thank you for your hospitality, and we will meet next year;)
after some time I finally manage to give a feedback in return:
This museum in Palestine was my first and very unique workaway experience. I stayed there for a month and felt already from the day I arrived very welcomed. The hosts, Jessie and Mazin are kind, generous and told a lot about Palestines history and the… read more
Gardening, history, culture and Palestine itself weren't the only things I learned and was inspired at the museum, I found that I like this environment and type of work very much. The museum has a very good work setting, lots of archives and specimens to open… read more
