    Description

    Hello,

I’ve recently moved to Cairns, bought a home, and am in the process of settling in. I’ve enjoyed exploring the local areas, beaches, and islands—it’s such a beautiful place, and the people here are incredibly welcoming.

As a side note, I want to mention that I’m unable to assist with visa extensions. However, I’m offering an exchange: accommodation for a week or so in return for some help around the home, mostly everything is finished except a fence in the back yard and a frame for a door. Maybe a little bit of the garden.

If this sounds like something you’re interested in, feel free to reach out!

    Best regards,
    Bek

After 14 wonderful years hosting in LA, I’ve fallen for the vibrant culture of Cairns! Between forest-inspired food, nearby beaches, free yoga, and creative vibes, every day feels like a blend of growth, connection, and calm. It’s the perfect place for a story-lover to feel at home.

🔨 Handy Person Wanted (or Two!) – Help Needed Around a Yurt and small amount of gardening.

I’m looking for one or two capable and reliable handy people to help with a some tasks with fencing in the back yard and framing of a door on a spacious 943 sqm block. Which is very organized.

    What I need help with:
    • Confident use of a drill and basic carpentry

(e.g. building a simple door frame – tools provided) this is the most important. As an outdoor has been arranged to be fitted.

    • General repairs
    • Gardening and occasional heavy lifting
    • Renovation of a Mongolian Yurt (5.1m round) in the backyard:
    • Includes installing new fabric (already purchased) original fabric there.
    I have 2 staple guns.
    • Yurt has 2 double beds, bedding, internet, a cooler, and venting
    • Limited outdoor kitchen setup on-site

The property is 25 years old and much of the work is done – just needs some finishing touches and TLC.

You’ll be a great fit if you:
    • Are hands-on and self-motivated
    • Have good organizational skills
    • Are available to work during daylight hours
    • “SUPER” Bonus points if you’re tech-savvy or have trade skills

This is a fun and flexible project for someone who enjoys practical work and making things shine.

Interested? Get in touch – I’d love to hear from you!
