    Description

Hello, I am Karla, I am (42) years old I grew up in urbanity, in the north of Chile-Iquique and I came to form a family, with Matias (41) and isaura (16). We arrived in Patagonia 12 years ago, we were 6 years living in the construction of Patagonia Park, where Sandrita (10) was born the youngest daughter. Then we came to live in a field near Cochrane in the Emerald Lagoon where 7 years ago I decided to start with a Family Microenterprise, with the initiative and search that did not promote the contamination of the territory, but rather help to promote its care and protection, This is how the Laguna Esmeralda Eco Family Center was born - wanting to establish an Eco Tourism, based on the ethics of Permaculture to boost the development of Sustainable Tourism. 10 years ago I began to explore and connect with permaculture networks in the world, where over the years, we have been learning other ways of life, very different from the life I had in urbanity, we have been weaving with local networks such as ag of sustainable tourism-Corporation Province of the Glaciers, Chelenko - Queulat among others - Eco Austral Network which in turn is liaison with CASA Chile - CASA Latina and GEN - networks of sustainable initiative settlements REPAIRED WORLDWIDE, where we are learning together and feedback with experiences and exchanging knowledge with volunteers who have been contributing to this project for 7 seasons since they have been proactive, creating an "Educational Station", exploring new ways of how to kindly inhabit a territory, lowering the carbon footprint and minimizing the impact on the place we live, these years we have learned to collect and grow food and medicine native to the terri Thorium, exchanging and promoting the circular economy with the Cochrane community, to avoid plastic waste and strengthen the conscious and responsible consumption of taking care of the waste that I generate and knowing new healthy and nutritious local foods. I have learned in Patagonia not to litter and think that everything can be reused - visualizing that the waste is a resource and there is no garbage, with this we are building prototypes with a mixture in self-construction, understanding that we are in a transition to self-consumption, too I am very active in local organizations, we meet with leaders at a public-private table, where territorial issues are discussed as environmental problems and see solutions to protect and be guardians of these territories that must be preserved since there are very few left in the world. We have applied to government projects, demonstrating that other forms of sustainable design are possible to build new ways of living, learning from the ancestral wisdom and fusing with the appropriate technologies that is what you learn with the permaculture tool, processes that we leave behind in the place together with visitors and volunteers we show the community of Cochrane -Provincia - Region and networks in Latin America and worldwide, to transmit, learn, spread, teach other alternatives, which allows us to have more possibilities to opt for solutions and improve the quality of life, we are transmitting a model based on Aysen Water and Life Reserve.
