    Description

I am an English ex-pat, a Londoner who has made this massive change in my life 5 years ago. I am a psychologist and a mother of a grown up daughter.

Chantada is accessible by bus from Ourense & Lugo, A Coruna & Santiago de Compostuela. You will want a car to bring provisions.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I am in a very non-touristy part of Spain - Galicia - and a very non-touristy part of Galicia itself: in other words this is a very Spanish community, a lot of country people and small town folk. Learning the cultural and historic different between Galicia and other parts of Spain is fascinating, including the different language which is in many ways closer to Portuguese [we are very near the border or Portugal]. People here are really lovely, reserved but extremely warm. Right here where I live I have fantastic views of mountains and greenery and am only a 25 minute drive to a lovely beach.

  • Help

    Help

I am looking for someone ideally with experience, fantastic, or at least a passion and strong pair of arms for helping tame my wild garden/land. I am also looking for folk who will help with any task or clearing out help needed in the house. Also to look after my cats when I am away, keep the house super clean and tidy

    2-3 hrs a day maximum

Please note : you will need a car for either placement.

    Accommodation

A beautiful stone bedroom with your own bathroom often [separate from my bathroom at least: others may sometimes stay and therefore share the bathroom]. The house is gorgeous, large, stone, rustic, beautiful touches of taste and beauty. The garden is wild but gorgeous. The house is in a pretty set of hamlets with spectacular views and pretty walks. It is 5 minutes' drive to Chantada, a small well equipped town with supermarkets, cafes and a little river.

Also I have a very conformable, cosy, fully-functioning, solar-powered fully renovated stone cabin/cottage, w/ fridge, woodstove, and shower toilet, in beautiful Ribeira de Sacra 10 mins from Chantada, near Camino de Santiago & adjacent to famous Castro Candaz (Galician Atlantida) underwater fortress. Beautiful walks & water access, almost no tourism & few people

We are looking for help with maintenance, tidying etc.
The property is almost on the Minho (2 min stroll for swimming) in the beautiful ribeira sacra.

Workaways provide their own food so only help 3 hours a day

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Time off? Well there is the beach if you drive . Lugo is a beautiful city only an hour away by bus, a city within old walls. Ourense is only 40 minutes by bus and is lovely, beautiful old town. hot spa baths also accessible. In Chantada there are lovely cafes and bars and a very pretty river with a nice walk. I am sure that you will come up with your own ideas when you research this area, according to what you love or are interested in; basically it is beautiful here and very Galician.
