NOTE: We do not take bookings in advance. Please get in touch a day or two prior to arrival to see if space is available.

Fom 2012 Joanna and I (Tomasz) have lived on a farm. It's a 17 Hectare property that is only 35 minutes by car from the centre of Auckland city or 30mins from the North Shore.

Though Farming was a new experience for us, in the intervening time we have set up a large orchard, Vege garden, coup with 10 Hens, grazing horses and cows which are all beginning to comprise too much work for just Joanna and myself who have recently reached our 50’s. We are looking to get an extra pair of hands to help Joanna with tending to the garden and myself when it comes to caring for the animals and maintaining the farm.

We have three lovely children who have all left home but frequently visit as, that are would gladly give you tips and tricks about how to make the most out of a visit to Auckland/NZ as a young person. I’ve always prided myself on my culinary talents and would love having another hungry mouth to cook for.

We are first generation Kiwi's who came from Poland 30 years ago, we love helping visitors get the most out of their visit to our beautiful country. At the same time we keep up true Polish hospitality which meaning you can expect great food and a warm, welcoming home. We both have travelled the world and love to share stories with other likeminded people

  • Help

    Help

We would appreciate some physical help for weeding, shoveling/digging, planting, chopping, mowing, Animal cares and general farm help - possibly carpentry. This assistance will be guided, but often unsupervised - so please have a level of experience, maturity and commitment to help independently on upkeep of the out-of-doors. Because there is physical labour you should be in appropriate good health for these types of tasks. However being outside you'll have the amazing views and fresh country air to keep you refreshed!

    Accommodation

Our large property is situated on a hilltop providing panoramic views of the countryside. It was built with two separate 'wings' coming off the shared kitchen/dining/lounge area. We occupy one wing and the other which has three double bedrooms and its own large bathroom with Shower, Bath, Toilet and two basins is currently empty bar from the occasional guest or child coming to visit. This will be where we will have 1-2 workawayer’s stay and affords relative privacy while still all being under the same roof.

We will provide dinner and lunch on working days, breakfasts and other meals on non-working days will usually be self-prepared. The entire farm is smoke-free so we won’t be considering anyone who smokes or engages in other elicit substances.

    What else ...

The property is near Waimauku, which is a short drive to Auckland central, even closer to West Auckland (ie Westgate shopping centre) and a stone throw from the beautiful Muriwai – Black Sand – surf beach. Our property backs onto Woodhill forest which contains NZ most popular mountain biking tracks and 5 mins up the road is Parakai hotpools. There is a bus that heads towards town however if you want independence having a car is recommended as Auckland’s public transport is not world class.
All that being said, when people arrive they often spend most of their time just soaking in the views, sun and bird song that can be found throughout our property.
