    Description

NOTE: I don't take bookings many months in advance.

Since 2012, I, Tomasz, have lived on a 17 hectare farm just 35 minutes from central Auckland and 30 minutes from the North Shore. What began as a new lifestyle has grown into a well established property with a large orchard, vegetable garden, chicken coop with 10 hens, and grazing horses and cows.

These days I am running the farm independently and enjoy having help from travellers who are happy to get involved and experience a bit of rural New Zealand life. I strongly prefer hosting pairs, as it tends to suit the rhythm of the farm and allows guests to be more independent, but I am also open to solo travellers who are confident and comfortable working on their own.

I have three grown children who have left home but visit regularly and are always happy to share tips on making the most of Auckland and New Zealand. I enjoy cooking and take pride in providing good, hearty meals, especially on working days.

    Important:
Pairs are strongly preferred, but confident solo travellers are welcome to enquire
You should be comfortable working independently at times
The property is strictly smoke free, and we do not accept smokers or drug use of any kind

I am a first generation Kiwi originally from Poland, and have been in New Zealand for 30 years. I enjoy helping visitors make the most of their time in this beautiful country. At the same time, I like to share a bit of traditional Polish hospitality, so you can expect good food and a warm, welcoming home. I have travelled widely and enjoy meeting like minded people and sharing stories.

    Help

I would appreciate some help with physical tasks such as weeding, digging, planting, chopping, mowing, animal care, and general farm maintenance, with occasional carpentry if you have those skills. I will provide guidance to get you started, but much of the work is done independently, so a good level of experience, maturity, and reliability is important.
As the work can be physically demanding, you should be in good health and comfortable with outdoor tasks. In return, you will be working in a beautiful setting with fresh country air and wide rural views, which makes the work both rewarding and enjoyable.

Tasks include weeding, digging, planting, mowing, chopping, animal care, and general farm maintenance. Occasional carpentry is a bonus. Some guidance is provided, but much of the work is self directed, so a reasonable level of practical skill, initiative, and reliability is important. A good level of physical fitness is helpful due to the nature of the work. You will be rewarded with fresh air, great views, and a satisfying day’s work.

Lunch and dinner are provided on working days. Breakfast and meals on non working days are generally self prepared.

Our large property is situated on a hilltop with panoramic views of the countryside. The house is arranged with a shared kitchen, dining, and living area in the centre, with two separate bedroom wings on either side, each with its own bathroom. I stay in one wing and guests stay in the other, providing a good level of privacy while still being under the same roof. Rooms can be arranged to suit individuals or pairs.

    What else ...

The property is near Waimauku, which is a short drive to Auckland central, even closer to West Auckland (ie Westgate shopping centre) and a stone throw from the beautiful Muriwai – Black Sand – surf beach. Our property backs onto Woodhill forest which contains NZ most popular mountain biking tracks and 5 mins up the road is Parakai hotpools. There is a bus that heads towards town however if you want independence having a car is recommended as Auckland’s public transport is not world class.
All that being said, when people arrive they often spend most of their time just soaking in the views, sun and bird song that can be found throughout our property.
