Description
I. About Us
This is a unique concept in Rotterdam, Netherlands that aims to upcycle retiring vessels into floating coliving and coworking spaces for students, young professionals, digital nomads, and volunteers passionate about sustainability, upcycling, and communal living. it combines upcycling concepts, sleek design, and smart functionality to create a vibrant community and harmonious living spaces on water.
II. Our Mission
Our mission is to tackle the housing crisis in the Netherlands by providing affordable, sustainable, and community-focused coliving housing in barges and boats for individuals and groups.
III. Research
Our project is rooted into research connected to the Societal Transitions program from Erasmus University of Rotterdam where we are looking to investigate topics such as:
- Community Dynamics in the spaces
- Sustainability Practices in the coliving (upcycling, sustainable materials, sustainable energy, etc.)
- Urban Transition and Housing Solutions
- Policy Implications for Water-Based Living
- Resilience of our Communities to Climate Change
IV. Our Values
+Community: We believe that living in a community-driven space can enrich our lives and make us feel more connected to the world around us.
+Sustainability: We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and using eco-friendly practices such as upcycling methods.
+Space: We aim to create liveable, artistic, enjoyable, and healthy living spaces.
V. Our boats
The project consist of 3 barges of 38m that are being converted to coliving spaces with capacity for ~20-30 people. There are cargo holds that we are converting into living spaces. Currently, they are used as an atelier where all the boat maintenance and small upcycling projects are conducted. We have available 4 cruisers of ~13m that each can accommodate 1-5 persons. The cruisers can be used for additional accommodation space and private boat tours & excursions around Rotterdam and beyond.Types of help and learning opportunities
