    Description

Hi! We’re Kayleen and Vakey, a therapist and a software developer who spent nearly a decade living as nomads throughout Asia and Europe. After years of adventure, we decided to create a home base that still offers beauty, inspiration, and a slower pace of life.

We now live in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, in a calm, family-friendly neighborhood just a 10-minute walk from the ocean. We moved here to be closer to family in Orlando and to enjoy year-round surfing — some of the best on the East Coast, in our opinion! Our area is peaceful, sunny, and perfect for anyone who loves nature, beach walks, swimming, and a relaxed coastal lifestyle.

Our home is shared with our two beloved rescue pets: Opie, a sweet black lab mix who was rescued from the Everglades, and Kiki, a gentle rescue cat from Taiwan. They’re both affectionate, easygoing, and an important part of our family.

We love meeting people from different cultures, sharing stories, and creating warm, respectful connections. Having spent so many years traveling ourselves, we deeply appreciate the spirit of exchange and kindness that Workaway is built on, and we look forward to welcoming someone who will feel comfortable, cared for, and at home here.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We deeply value cultural exchange and connection, having spent nearly a decade living and traveling throughout Asia and Europe ourselves. We love sharing stories, perspectives, food, music, and everyday life with people from different backgrounds, and we’re excited to welcome someone into our home who enjoys that same spirit of openness and curiosity.

Staying with us offers a chance to experience relaxed coastal living in Florida, with daily beach walks, sunrise surf sessions, warm evenings, and a strong sense of local community. Indian Harbour Beach is a friendly, laid-back town, and nearby Cocoa Beach, Melbourne, and Orlando offer local markets, festivals, live music, art events, surfing culture, and great food.

You’ll get a glimpse into our lifestyle of mindfulness, balance, remote work, and intentional living, shaped by years of travel and cross-cultural experiences. We’re always happy to share tips about the area, favorite local spots, nature escapes, and community events, and we love learning from the cultures, traditions, and life paths of the people who stay with us.

Our hope is to create a meaningful, mutually enriching exchange , not just a place to stay, but a genuine human connection.

We’re looking for a kind, responsible, and animal-loving person who will care for our two beloved rescue pets , Opie and Kiki while we’re away.

Our animals are used to having people around most of the day, as we both work from home, so we’re hoping to find someone who enjoys being present and spending time with them. This isn’t just basic pet-sitting , we’re really looking for someone who will treat them with the same love, attention, and care that we do.

Daily tasks include feeding both pets, giving them plenty of affection, companionship, and playtime, and walking Opie at least once a day. We also have a large, fully fenced backyard where he loves to sunbathe, relax, and explore.

Our pets are calm, friendly, and easy to care for, and they thrive with consistent attention and companionship. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves animals, enjoys a peaceful home environment, and wants a relaxed stay near the beach.

    What else ...

In your free time, there’s so much to explore nearby. We’re close to the Kennedy Space Center, where you can often watch live rocket launches, an unforgettable experience. The Banana River and Indian River Lagoon are perfect for kayaking, dolphin watching, and sunset paddles, and we frequently see dolphins, manatees, and beautiful coastal wildlife.

We have surfboards and a kayak available for you to use, and the beach is just a short walk away, making it easy to enjoy surfing, swimming, beach walks, and sunrise mornings by the ocean.

Getting around is easiest with a car, but there are also bike-friendly roads and some local public transport options. We’re happy to share local tips, favorite spots, and hidden gems to help you make the most of your stay.

Most important to us is trust. Our animals are deeply loved and are part of our family, so we’re truly hoping to welcome someone kind, responsible, and attentive who will care for them with genuine love and presence. Creating a safe, peaceful, and respectful home environment is essential to us, and we value clear communication, mutual respect, and warmth.

    Kiki

Kiki is a sweet and affectionate cat who was rescued from Taiwan in 2016 while my fiancé and I were living there. She loves catnaps, basking in the sun, and quiet companionship.

    Opie (8 years)

Opie is a sweet black Lab mix rescued from the Everglades. He is affectionate and loves love, belly rubs, walks, and human companionship are his favorite things. Rescued five years ago, he was once fearful of everything, but with patience, trust, and love, he has grown into a confident, happy, and devoted boy.
