    Description

Hi, I’m Matteo, and I’m developing a private off-grid project on my land in the countryside of central Italy, about 1 hour from Rome by train.

This is a very minimal place and still a work in progress, so it’s important that you feel comfortable with simple conditions and an essential lifestyle. It’s not a business or a campsite, but a personal project focused on simple living, independence, and connection with nature.

I divide my time between working online and working on the land. I run an online business related to photography, so part of my day is spent at the computer, while the rest is focused on practical outdoor work, improving the space, and gradually developing the project. I also enjoy documenting parts of the process through photos and videos.

The atmosphere here is quiet, natural, and peaceful, ideal for people who enjoy outdoor projects, practical tasks, and being immersed in nature. You would be helping me directly with hands-on activities on the land and with improving the space in simple and practical ways.

I’m looking for people who are practical, adaptable, and aligned with this kind of lifestyle. You don’t need to be an expert, but you should be proactive, respectful, and comfortable with simple living and hands-on work.

This experience is best for someone who wants to be part of a real personal project while it is still evolving — not just visiting a place, but contributing to it in a meaningful way.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Travellers can benefit from this experience in different ways, depending on their interests.

First of all, the location offers a great balance between nature and access to cultural places. Rome is about one hour away by train, and the station is not too far from the land. I can also help with occasional lifts if needed. This makes it a good base if you’d like to explore the city while staying in a quieter, more natural environment.

The area itself is very beautiful and natural, with a large lake, waterfalls, and many places to explore nearby. It’s a good opportunity to experience a different side of Italy, away from crowded tourist areas.

On a practical level, you’ll be part of a real off-grid project in progress. You can learn by doing — working with your hands, understanding how to develop a place step by step, and experiencing a more minimal and nature-based lifestyle.

I also run an online business and have been doing so for several years, so if you’re interested in remote work, content creation, or starting your own online project, I’m happy to share my experience and insights.

More generally, this can be a valuable exchange for people who are curious about living in a simpler way, being more independent, and stepping a bit outside of the typical routines of modern life.

  • Help

    Help

I’m mainly looking for people who are happy to do tasks outdoors, get their hands dirty, and be involved in practical, nature-based tasks.

The help needed is quite flexible and can change from day to day depending on what is needed on the land. Typical activities may include:

    gardening and basic land care
    pruning, cutting and clearing vegetation
helping with small outdoor projects and simple improvements
    general hands-on support when needed

Most of the help is physical and takes place outside, so it’s important that you feel comfortable working in nature and doing manual tasks.

You don’t need specific experience, but a proactive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to help are essential.

    Time commitment:

    around 4-5 hours per day
    5 days per week
daily chores (like cooking or cleaning your own space) are not included in the help

This is a good fit for someone who enjoys physical work, being outdoors, and contributing in a simple and practical way.

I’d also appreciate help with content creation, such as:

    basic video editing
    filming simple videos

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Accommodation is simple and reflects the early stage of the project.

There are a few basic options available:

space for campervans or vans (ideal if you travel with your own setup)
    tent accommodation on the land
a small caravan that I’m currently restoring, which will offer a couple of simple sleeping spots

Everything is minimal and mostly outdoor. This is not a standard accommodation, but a simple and nature-based setup.

    Food:
I provide the ingredients, and meals are prepared together or individually. Cooking is shared and organized between us, but it is not part of the help hours.

    Facilities:

a compost toilet is currently being set up for basic needs
water is available, but limited, so it needs to be used carefully
electricity is available in a minimal way (enough for basic use, but not high consumption)

The whole setup is off-grid, so it doesn’t have the comforts of a traditional house.

This place is best suited for people who are comfortable with simple conditions, enjoy living outdoors, and feel aligned with a minimal and independent lifestyle

    Can host digital nomads

Digital nomads are welcome, especially if you’re looking for a quiet and focused environment. I’ve worked as a digital nomad myself, so I understand the need for a peaceful place to work and a good daily rhythm. Here you’ll find silence, nature, and very few distractions — which can be great for productivity. There is Wi-Fi available for working online. It’s reliable for most tasks like emails, calls, and general work, but it’s not extremely fast, especially for uploads. So it may not be ideal if your work depends on heavy file transfers or very high-speed internet. Overall, this can be a great fit if you’re looking for a simple, calm place to work and live, as long as you are flexible and don’t need top-level connection performance.

  • Space for parking camper vans

    Space for parking camper vans

Campervan travelers are very welcome — in fact, this place is especially suited for people traveling with their own van or camper. I live in a similar way myself, so the idea is to gradually create a space where different vans can stay in nature, with a simple and independent lifestyle. At the moment, the setup is very basic. You will need to be fully self-sufficient with your vehicle. I currently don’t have facilities for emptying grey or black water, and I can’t provide water refill or full service connections yet. However, I know nearby spots where you can take care of these things, so it’s manageable if you’re used to van life. This works best for people who are already comfortable living in a campervan, who don’t need comfort or services, and who enjoy a more wild, minimal and independent experience.
