    Description

The hostel is a small, cozy hostel on the Bruce Peninsula that opened in May 2016. It is located in the village of Lion's Head, steps away from the Bruce Trail, Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment. It is an hour north of Owen Sound, about 40 mins south of Tobermory and 3 hours north of Toronto by car. We can accommodate up to 10 guests, with two 4-bed dorm rooms and one private room.

Workawayers would meet and interact with guests from around the world, learn what it's like to run a small business, and have time off to explore the Bruce Peninsula (hiking, biking, paddling, swimming and more - we have a SUP and bikes for helpers to use). Workawayers also get an opportunity to experience rural Canada and its culture, within walking distance of Lion's Head Provincial Park and Georgian Bay.

Helpers would assist with day-to-day operations - laundry, housekeeping, check-ins/outs, gardening, organizing events & activities, assisting guests, property maintenance, etc. From May to October, we are looking for friendly, hardworking and flexible individuals who are interested in staying for 2 to 3 weeks, working about 4 hours per day, 5 days a week.

In exchange for help, helpers would have a bed in a shared (or private room if available) with a shared bathroom and kitchen in the hostel. Helpers are responsible for their own food, and we are conveniently located right beside a grocery store.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

National and provincial parks are within walking and driving distance for day trips, where there is beautiful hiking and swimming in crystal clear waters. There is a farmers market, guided stargazing and outdoor music happen during the summer weekends. There are also many different guided outdoor activities such as biking, kayaking, SUP, hiking, and bird watching that are offered steps away from our door.

Please note, there is no public transportation from Toronto right to Lion's Head (except during weekends when Park Bus is operating), nor shuttle buses from Lion's Head to any of the parks - however helpers are often able to get rides with us or other guests. There is there Greyhound bus that runs from Toronto to Owen Sound, an hour away, where we can pick you up.
