    Description

Myself and my husband run a small farm on an off shore island off the coast of County Mayo. We have four adult children, who live on the mainland. We have a moderate sized farm with sheep, cows and a collie dog.

We are looking for help during the busy upcoming lambing season ideally the months of March , April and May. Ideally we are looking for somebody who has experience working on a farm and with animals. Duties would include animal handling/moving, fencing and the general day to day up keep of the farm grounds. This role would be best suited for a male candidate or a couple.

We wish to point out that we are not actually a business - but simply offering accommodation and meals in return for some help on our farm.

We are looking for somebody to help care for the animals, mainly the sheep and cows during lambing and calving. There is also general farm maintenance which includes fencing and a general clean up after the winter. A normal day would involve feeding the animals and general care of newborn lambs and calves. Work will be physical, outdoors, varies from day to day but is not boring and very rewarding.

    What else ...

We live on Clare Island off the coast of County Mayo, Ireland. The island is three miles offshore and has a twice daily ferry service from Roonagh point. The ferry journey takes twenty minutes. Clare Island is a beautiful scenic Island, popular with tourists for its many attractions. There are many natural and scenic trails throughout the island and hillwalking is a popular pastime. People are friendly and welcoming and there is an active social life with music, dance and sporting activities. We have had Aupairs when the children were younger and found it a valuable experience. We are looking for someone with a good sense of humour who is interested in trying new things. We would prefer a non smoker.
