Description
We live on a 2 hectares property, on the foothills of the Serra Estrela mountain range in Portugal. We have been improving the soil of the property and planting trees over two decades now. At the moment we are focusing on water management. Reusing and filtering the grey water, as well as creating some swales and hugelculture.

Volunteerwork will focus on garden, land cleaning, like strimming, felling trees, creating the branch hugelculture fences, raised beds and some building and cementing. Among which an outside kitchen done with the natural stones found on the land.

Accommodation
You will stay in a yurt, mongolian tent, with stove, outside covered kitchen, with all amenities like fridge and cooker. composttoilet and spiral heated shower. A place I rent out to ecotourists as well.
What else ...
Village of AVÔ is 15 min. walk. From there busses go to Oliveira do Hospital and Tabua. The quinta borders on wild countryside, and therefore excellent for some big hikes, the village has a river beach for cooling down and swimming in the summer, also little supermarket, bank, postoffice and pharmacist.

I had a great stay of one week at Marions place! I didn't sleep in the yurt, but had my nice own private "house", that was very comfortable with the best view to the sunset. The village Avô with a river and a little beach is in walking distance and I could spend every afternoon down there. It's perfect to cool down with this hot wheater.
