    *IMPORTANT*
You have to require a minimum 211A Single Visa to be able to volunteer with us. You can leave us a message if you believe you can and are willing to arrange the visa for yourself. We can help a bit if you need some things with the paperwork. With this visa, you can also volunteer longer in Indonesia and leave more impact:) If you are a student, an international internship visa (211B) will also do.

I (Monica) started this budget learning center for everyone (the rich and especially the poor) in my hometown, Sungai Penuh, Jambi province, Indonesia (first). 2 years later, after exploring many things in life, I decided to start a Pay-As-You-Wish learning center on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Little did I know that in a year it has grown unexpectedly great with massive support from many many people. Now we have more than 50 paid part-time teachers teaching in Lombok, Sungai Penuh, and online with more than 300 students all around Indonesia and a few of them are from other countries.

Our vision has shifted, from giving affordable education to everyone (students) to improving the teaching skills of Indonesian teachers so they can be paid well in their own country.

We would say that English is the main reason for students joining us. We try to focus on the student's speaking skills since we realize that in Indonesia, there are a lot of people who are good at Grammar but can't communicate in English at all! That's also the case with other languages/subjects as well as skills they have been learning--they lack practical knowledge and skills. That's why we want to build students' confidence first instead of learning too many theories without comprehending how they are actually applied. We build a class of fun, natural and homey to make students comfortable and happy while learning. We really need your help, volunteers from all over the world especially to teach and expose them to globalized education and also to inspire our teachers to keep on improving themselves and being better educators at times.

In exchange, we will provide you a place to stay, and take you to see the natural and pure beauty of Sungai Penuh. Sungai Penuh, Kerinci is gorgeous with many places to visit such as lakes, mountains, hills, and of course the cultures and the people:)

    See you soon!

Sungai Penuh is a really cultural city in Indonesia especially in Sumatera. There are a lot to see and to learn. There are Mount Kerinci, the highest volcano in Sumatera and also Kayuaro, one of the widest tea plantations in the world and many more (Lake, waterfall, etc). The foods are various and unique. The people are humble and you'll be happy here! We can also go to Kerinci's wedding which is really unique. There is also an old museum. We can just walk since you'll stay at my home and my home is in the heart of Kerinci, so it's really worth seeing!

As for Lombok island, you can read it here:
    It's a fantastic island!😊

You can also share your experiences so they will know that there are a lot to see and learn out there. Your stories and your perspectives might be really helpful for the students to 'continue' their life and to live their future:)

In exchange, we'll provide you meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner and local snacks) and place for you to stay for free. For now, you'll stay at my home with my family so you'll be exposed to an authentic way of how Indonesian family lives on daily basis, specifically in Sungai Penuh (Sumatera Island), Mataram (Lombok Island), and Cibubur (Java Island). You'll learn deeply about the tradition, culture and our habits. Our family is opened and very happy to meet new people from all around the world.

Plus, the volunteers will not 'work' all day. We'll always have a long break everyday to show you around. On the weekends, we'll explore the neighborhood and places around, there're a lot to see here (it depends on where you are volunteering as now we have 3 branches of the learning Center! Kerinci is the icon of Jambi Province where there are many tourism places such as Lake Kerinci, Mirror Lake, Mount Kerinci (the highest volcano in Indonesia), Kayuaro (one of the widest tea plantations in the world), waterfall, etc. You can also google Lombok, it's a gorgeous island with a very diversed religion, culture etc. It'll be really great to have you here, Guys:)

We can spend our time off together. If you want to explore Kerinci alone, you can just walk since there are a lot to see near my home. The transportation here is mostly 'ojek' (motorbike) and 'bendi' (horse). But we need to go to a 'terminal' = small bus stop to get a car if we're gonna go quite far:)
