Description
We are an organic farm and permaculture project located a few meters off the coast in Huelmo, about 45 minutes south west of Puerto Montt, Chile.
We work with biodynamic and permaculture techniques in various aspects and have free-ranging chickens, ducks foraging on the beach, a horse, dogs, and a good handful of outdoor cats.
Our garden is on the hilltop overlooking the ocean and is a bountiful vegetable and medicinal herb production system with cultures of raised hügelbeds (wooden cores creating a water retaining reservoir of nutrients) and borders of rocks from the beach (to catch and store heat). Through the application of: biofertilizer, compost, bokashi, mussel shells, seaweed, and mulch soup, a healthy and productive ecosystem is generated and sustained.
We prioritize valuable learning experiences and the good and peaceful life.
This is a great place for those interested in learning about permaculture and living simply. We practice principals such as self-sufficiency, bartering, utilizing local resources, listening to and working with nature, and taking time to observe and contemplate as we develop positive connections with the land and its people.
We are also interested in recieving anyone with previous sailboat experience, to sail and restore/repair.

We strive to live a balanced, healthy life.
By participating in our holistic lifestyle, there is no doubt you will learn something about the environment and yourself you did not expect.
We are passionate to be more self-sustainable and are always expanding, we welcome new ideas and perspectives on the farm.Help
There is always lots of projects here at the farm. Examples being... maintaining and expanding the garden, fence building, feeding and caring for the animals, using creativity to build with recycled materials, roundwood construction, bee keeping, sailboat restoration, natural farming methods such as nendo dango fukoka's technique, harvesting vegetables and medicinal herbs from the garden, chopping and collecting fire wood for hot water, cooking with in-season vegetables from the garden, producing and conserving jams, sauces and fermentations.
And always sharing thoughts and ideas in a welcoming environment.
One of the bigger projects on the farm is the construction of a strawbell, roundwood timber frame house using different natural building techniques. We would LOVE recieving anyone with previous construction experience or knowledge!
The minimum stay is 2 weeks however, if all parties are in agreement, we offer the opportunity to stay for longer (6 months to a year) and oversee various projects on the farm while immersing yourself in permaculture, biodynamic and holistic living.
In addition; any physical rehabilitation skills you may have, such a kinesiology, yoga, physiotherapy and anything related to spinal cord injury treatment is a plus!Languages

Here we have several different options.
1. We have various bedrooms to share .
2. There is a large 3 bedroom tent to stay in with mattresses provided.
3. Bring your own tent and we will find you a spot with a view of the sea.
4. If you have your own van etc you are welcome to use this during your stay.
Even when the provided accomodation is full, Those with their own shelters are welcome to share and paticipate at the farm.
The meals are healthy and large. The ingredients we have grown are used to cook meals for everyone throughout the week. We provide oats for breakfast. Meals consist of lots of vegetables from the garden, occasional seafood, homemade sourdough integral bread, and gifts from the garden and our feathery friends. Where we are located we have the oppurtunity to easily collect mussels and other sea life during low tide to include in our meals!
We provide nutritious and bountiful meals but we do not practice an open kitchen. Between mealtimes you are welcome to bring your own snacks. Also there are small neighborhood markets within a few minutes walk where you can buy snacks, however please note the nearest supermarket is a 30+ minute bus ride away! For those who have certain dietary requirements I recommend bringing your favorites with you (Puerto Montt has lots of affordable street vendors and markets). What else ...
To arrive from the bus terminal in Puerto Montt take the bus to Huelmo (with final destination: San Agustín) takes 40 minutes aprox and drops you off directly at the farm.
Another option is to take the bus to Calbuco (there are 2 different routes from Puerto Montt, you need to take the one that goes by the coast...por costa) and get off at Huelmo. The Farm is then about 1.5 kilometers walk.
Sometimes we go to Puerto Montt and can arrange rides.
On the weekends we encourage you to explore and get to know the area. There are lots of beautiful places very close such as.. Puerto Varas, Volcán Osorno, Saltos de Petrohue, Frutillar, Chiloe, Calbuco and Cochamo, all accesible from here by bus.A little more information
