    Hi there!

I’m Sumer, an Australian filmmaker and cultural enthusiast, currently restoring a charming historic home in Mussomeli, Sicily—a picturesque hilltop town brimming with authenticity, medieval architecture, and sweeping views of the Sicilian countryside. This region is becoming a hub for creatives and expats reviving old homes, and I’d love to welcome you into this vibrant community to experience its rich culture, warm locals, and la dolce vita firsthand.

FIlmmaker, a world traveller, 21st-century tree hugger, lover of all things natural, healthy and positive - offering a comfortable stay in a cosy old home I’m renovating in the quaint historical village of Mussomeli, Sicily

    About the Opportunity:
I’m seeking enthusiastic helpers (no expertise required—just a can-do attitude!) to join me in bringing this old house back to life. Tasks could include:

    Painting, basic carpentry, or plastering

Assisting with light electrical/plumbing work (guidance provided)

Creative restoration projects (terracotta tiles, stone walls, etc.)

Gardening or landscaping the outdoor spaces

    What I Offer:

Cozy accommodation in the heart of Müssomeli, a town known for its affordable historic homes and lively expat community.

Delicious home-cooked meals—I love preparing Sicilian-Australian fusion dishes, fresh local produce, and sharing stories over dinner.

Cultural immersion: Explore hidden gems, nearby ancient ruins (like the Valley of the Temples), or join local festivals. I’ll happily guide you or lend a bike for solo adventures!

Flexible schedule: Only 3-5 hours/day, 4-5 days/week, (Sicilian Island siesta mode) leaving you ample time to hike, sip espresso in piazzas, or take weekend trips to Palermo, Agrigento, or the Mediterranean coast. You have full name of the fridge, I usually cook a big lunch and dinner everyday and on a Sunday go to The Good Kitchen for a lovely prepared meal and some communities gatherings, it's very lovely.

    Who You Are:

A curious, open-minded soul eager to learn, whether you’re a DIY novice or a seasoned handy-person.

Passionate about cultural exchange, storytelling, or simply connecting over shared meals.

Any background, identity, or walk of life—LGBTQIA+ friendly, neurodiversity-affirming, and inclusivity are non-negotiable here. My home is a safe space for all.

    My Style:
I’m laid-back, collaborative, and value clear communication. We’ll set daily/weekly goals together, and I’ll work alongside you (when not editing my latest film project!). Flexibility and mutual respect are key—this is as much about the experience as the renovation.

If you’re dreaming of a meaningful Sicilian adventure—part hands-on project, part cultural deep-dive—let’s chat! I’d love to hear your story and see if we’re a good fit.

Ready to swap routine for stone cottages, cannoli, and camaraderie? Reply with a bit about yourself, and let’s create something unforgettable!

    Warm regards,
    Sumer
