  • Description

My husband has injured his back, he will be going to the spine clinic this week for surgery, so until he has recovered from this, we have to put things on hold.
We are in the Huon Valley Tasmania, we have a small 7.5 acre property, with the beach at the end of the road. 12 minutes drive to Cygnet, a very popular holiday destination. Huon Valley has a lot to offer visitors. there are Sunday markets 1st and 2nd Sunday, and other villages close by having them on the other Sundays, Hobart has an amazing market every Saturday morning. We are an hour's drive south of Hobart.

We will need someone from the 22nd June 2019

You will learn about a unique berry plant just introduced into Australia and the building of fences.

You will have the rare opportunity of tasting Haskap Berry produce. They will also meet up with Tasmanian wildlife that visit our doorstep most nights. These include a rare white possum.

We will be transplanting berry bushes from a shade-house to beds in a paddock and building fences to keep wallabies out.

The berry bushes are about 3 years old, currently in grow bags- and are fairly heavy. We have a tractor, trailer and tractor mounted forklift to help with the job.

If helpers have own vehicle there is a lot to see in southern Tasmania - very scenic locality. There are a lot of restaurants, wineries, cider making establishments, a cheese making property plus Bruny Island - very popular tourist spot is not far away. Beautiful waterways - popular yachting area with yacht club...members often keen to recruit a crew member. Lot of popular hiking areas around southern Tasmania.

About us: We are non-smokers but don't mind a smoker lighting up out of the house. We enjoy wine, good food and meeting interesting people from around the world.

If the workawayer does not have vehicle we are happy to pick them up and take into Cygnet and we are happy for them to come with us when we are going further afield such as to Huonville, Kingston or Hobart etc.
