We are an English family of four running a Chambre d'hôtes and online cooking courses in Normandy.
Pete deals with the day to day running of the bed and breakfast and Su works for a bank in Caen Monday to Friday
George 20 is studying in Caen but home at weekends and holidays
Lily 17 is still at home.
We live in the middle of a lovely French hamlet. The area is magnificent and we are constantly still surprised by how much Normandy has to offer. Easy travel to Paris close-by 3-4 hours by train and bus and 3 hours by car. We can collect you from Falaise our nearest town which is 6km away or Caen if the timings can work.

Help around the house
We have been doing workaway for a long time although we have had a year off in 2018. but we have generally found over the years that the more you are open to the exchange that workaway offers the more you will gain from it. It is a fantastic way to see the real French countryside and still get to visit the tourist sites on your days off.
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
We are looking for people that are self-motivated and hard-working and who are considerate and generally helpful around the house when living with others.
We have some ongoing projects as well as the day to day running and maintenance of our House and Gardens. The projects tend to be concentrated on much more in the offseason months but can happen a little during the mid-season
We try to look after a small market garden during the summer months.
During the summer we are usually very busy from April-September with the Bed and Breakfast. We are looking for people who are able and happy to help with cleaning and gardening whilst we deal with our business,
It is important that you are able to be friendly, chatty and professional with our guests as they will be around the house and gardens.
We speak French and our children are fluent in French but as a family, we usually converse in English but we are happy to speak in French if you prefer. Our guests are a mixture of French and English speaking.

We have some basic bikes you can use and if you want to explore further afield we can get you to the bus stop in Falaise which can take you to Caen. Su works in Caen so there is often an option to drop you in. The area is famous for the D-day sites and cider and cheese. You also have the medieval history in Bayeux, Falaise and Caen. Some workawayers choose to hire a car for a weekend to explore which you can do from Caen or if you are 21 from Falaise at the supermarket Leclerc.
