Description
Hola! My name is Marcus and i live in Popoyo Nicaragua with my two dogs Tecate and Sammy. I am originally from the US but I have also lived in Australia and Mexico before moving to Nicaragua full time 2 years ago.
I have been surfing most of my life and spend a lot of time here in the water. We are in the very beginning phase of developing a 2.5 acre campground that will eventually have a cafe and pulperia. At the moment the property is rural with a basic casita and a couple of wells for watering and cleaning.
Over the next 2 months we are working on infrastructure and prepping for the rainy season.Types of help and learning opportunities

The campground is located about 2 km from the beach in Limon Dos. It is a very small rural town just behind the surf beaks of Popoyo. Santana is the beach break and the reefs of Popoyo are both a short drive away. The town has both a local Nicaraguan community and an expat community that includes a decent amount of tourism. You will have the opportunity to practice your Spanish as well as work with me caring for the fruit trees on the property. Surfing and photography is a big part of my day when the waves and tides dictate. I’m happy have someone tag along if this interests you.
Help
I am looking for someone who can help me manage the grounds of the property. We have many different types of fruit trees and plants that need watering through the dry season. The property is decent size so helping with keeping things from growing out of control is also needed.
There are also various projects that will come and ho as we move toward May and June when the rains will come. The surf season has already begun here so most of the tasks are planned around surfing of course. You will be mainly helping with me. I find it easier to complete tasks when working with someone. The tasks will require strength and are outsideLanguages

I am also learning Spanish. I speak enough to get by but i have a lot to learn. If someone is interested in helping or taking classes together then please reach out.Accommodation
The casita is somewhat of a treehouse concept. The ground floor is screened and includes a bed. The upstairs is a basic one room with a loft. It is comfortable, safe, and quiet. We shower outside with a water tank and there is also an outhouse.
Cooking is done with a gas burner and sometimes we cook on the open fire. We can share meals together when it’s convenient for us. There are local markets for groceries and also restaurants near by. At the moment we have a small solar system for very basic power and charging electronics. What else ...
With a simple google search you will find many things to do around southern Nicaragua. Most travelers use motos to get around with. Moto rentals can be found and anywhere from 10-20 dollars a day with usually better weekly and monthly rates. Buses to some of the other towns are very cheep and convenient as well.
